09 SS Acting up, 2lbs boost no power!

As the title says, I was driving home from out of town today and on the highway, I was in 5th and had to pass so I pulled out and gave it a little gas and noticed I really had no power the car was hesitating really bad.. So I pulled over, checked underhood... It all seemed fine!

Got back on the highway and drove home. I got home but had to go get gas so I pulled out of my driveway, and started to head to the station when I noticed a loud backfire and all my engine power was gone... Like 2lbs boost.. No smoke... No CEL, just no power and barely any boost. Car is running fine too, like no rough idle, just hesitates / is jumpy on acceleration..

So I checked all my charge piping, all seems good... I am slightly worried though, this kind of sounds like a boost leak to me, but I don't know.. Its winter here so I am not usually hard on my car. I wonder if I hit a chunk of ice or soemthing? I dunno...

Any opinions? Mods are in Sig.

Should add to, Saturday on my drive up, my boost was in and out, not holding... bouncing around... I just thought cold weather but now I am thinking I popped something or it was cracked and gave way?
Also should add, I am getting spool, I hear whine... IC is fine.. from what I can see...

Maybe you damaged the intercooler, or the lower charge pipe, or a sensor.

Check for codes. That's the first thing.

SO, I pulled P2178 x 2 which is too rich off idle bank #1
I want to say this is from my catless DP.
AND
P0101 MAF Sensor performance...

COULD my MAF be causing the issue??

Those 2 codes point right to a good ol' boost leak to me. Check those end tanks pronto.

Damn, too much snow on the ground to do so, guess stealership is my next option.
And I am not paying GM for a new IC lol!

Aftermarket, lets do it!

haha.. jack the car up and really get in there good to be sure it's definitely an issue with the ic. Cranks in an end tank can be either completely obvious or even hidden out of site nestled up against the crash bar. Point is, get a good look see in there before ordering any parts.

True, I might see if I can get my car into my garage at work, when I say too much snow...
I mean record amount of snow on ground right now lol!! I THOUGHT this was a boost leak, so maybe i'll get a boost leak tester built and check for sure. Tough when its -20 out though haha!

I am honestly thinking of the ZZP IC kit with new charge piping and be done with it.

yeah how can he stay out of boost if he's always out of boost

dont make the turbo spool is the proper thing to do. It will spool its little heart out trying to make boost and you dont wanna hurt the turbo.

Boost leak is more than likely the answer.

Update:

Now I am really confused! Car is peppy this morning, has boost ... But I now have a physical CEL on the dash... I found this out going up a hill and accelerating.

I'm really confused now!

Will pull code when I get home and see I suppose!

If u have stock intercooler that's ur issue most likely blew end tank. Don't boost up like that in 5th, u obviously won't have much power if u do that

It's winter time and your still on the craptastic stock IC. Take a mini propane torch with you under the car and turn it on with-out lighting it. Let the gas run out of it all around the IC with the car running. If your idle changes than you have yourself a cracked IC. I would also check the craptastic number 2 piece on your car which is the stock charge pipe. Cracks can be hard to see on it so inspect it well especially around the valve-cover bend on the bottom side that you can't see unless you take it off.

This is growing problem now with our cars getting older. I'm certain there will be a lot of people starting to post about poor running problems that will lead to head re-building. We have it worse up here in Canada because of the colder climate and awesome super strong winter blends.
