2010 SS rear brake issue
I just hit 30K miles on my car and am getting deep grooves on the rear rotors, especially the driver side. Outer pads look like they have plenty of meat left on them, not sure about the inner pads. Anyway I am bringing the car to the dealer since it is still under 36K warranty, although i know its gonna be a waste of time since they're gonna say brakes aren't covered.
Any advice on what i can say to the dealer to maybe have them replace the pads/rotors under warranty. I know about the slide pin issue, anything else? I contacted the GM customer service rep on this forum and she said there are no recalls out for this vehicle, does anyone know of any TSBs out, she was not able to look them up.
Also, the parking brake is not holding the car in place anymore, and I have already had this adjusted.
Thanks

Your brake caliber is bad. I have a 2010 with about 40 on it and I had both rear calibers replaced within 20k miles. Both times the emergency brake didn't hold the car. I bought new pads and rotors and put as much grease as I could on the pins and havent had a problem since. I have slotted r1 concepts and hps pads all around now.

Brakes are a wear item so don't count on warranty covering them.
But if you have uneven wear tell them that normal wear would be even inside/outside and left/right. That something is stuck or out of adjustment. They might fix it as a good faith repair, or make some type of deal. Make sure the brakes work properly after the fix obviously.

Had my rears done under warrenty.... simply dont take no for an answer. I didn't make a scene (confrontation is difficult for me) but I did explain that there is no way that 20k should destroy the inner pads without touching the outer ones. I stuck to the simple fact that its a flaw/issue and not "Normal".

Imo making a scene would make it worse. You may get new pads and rotors once but they aren't likely going to actually make sure things are properly adjusted. They will do just enough to shut you up and get you out the door.

Well I brought the car to the dealership, they said the parking brake assembly on the rear calipers were broke/stuck so they replaced both rear calipers under warranty and machined the rotor that was badly grooved. To my surprise the pads had plenty of meat on them, the inner pads were a lil more worn but still have plenty of life left.

Sounds just like my situation except my parking brake still worked decently. Warranty took care of mine too. I've got close to 50k on mine since and everything is still great even the parking brake.

My parking brake isn't holding the left wheel. I sprayed the crap out of the e-brake mechanisms with WD-40 when i had the wheels off to upgrade the rotors/replace pads. Hope that helps... if not, there's always extended warranty.
I'm at 56K, my front pads were at 2-3 mm... replaced them with Factory Ferodos (thanks to Wangspeed for advice and CED for a good price)
The rears didn't look worn at all... I replaced them anyways since i already had my rear HPS rear pads in hand and I was installing R1 slotted premium rotors on so wanted all-new surface-to-surface combo.
Now I just need to go do a brake break-in run....
