blue smoke not sure?

So I replace the engine with a gen3.... did all the proper break-in procedures, after about 3000 miles on the new engine i get blue smoke and oil usage. The blue smoke only comes after letting off the gas. So it doesn't do it at idle and doesn't do it when giving gas. Only smokes after i release the gas as to shift or catch up to speed in same gear. Oil usage is about a quart in a way 1000miles and 90% my driving is interstate.... i just dont understand why it would start after putting 3k on it

Sounds like the turbo is on its way out to me. Did you reused the same turbo from the old engine? If so, did the old engine blow up or just got tired?

Same turbo, the old engine actually timing chain snapped and spun a lower bearing... turbo still has the power and proper psi and still pulls hard...

That would make sense then. When it spun the bearing, it caused metal to go through the turbo. Probably took a little time to get all the metal through it. Once metal goes through, it takes the turbo out and does exactly what you are saying is happening. It will still run fine like you said, for a while, but the smoking when letting off the throttle is the giveaway. The only other thing to cause it to smoke like that is valve seals but if its the valve seals, it should smoke at idle too.

Turbo rebuild kits are pretty cheap. I think I picked mine up for $40 or so.
