Brand New Unused K04+ for real this time!

Hey guys,

I received my brand new unused K04+ and I'm pretty excited. There's only one thing I noticed after inspecting it after UPS dropped it off.

Some shaft play!

My luck and turbo's is pretty shitty this year.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys can give me your opinion on this.

Some shaft play isn't bad but not sure what is the acceptable amount.

Since you got this wanna let that "bad" one go super cheap? Haha jk

Its going to have a little bit of play due to the fact that it has no oil in it yet due to it being brand new. I'm sure the new GM KO4's have a lil shaft play before install. If your that worried about it. contact werks and find out from them. thats my .02 cents......hope it helps.

Just make sure there is no in and out. Like said before once it's installed and oiled it will tighten up.

So you guys would install a turbo in my condition. It had very little front and back play, just up and down play was significant in my eyes.

I mean I even got it to spin and scrape once. I felt like a moron for even trying, but it seems risky.

Well if it scraped then no go. That seems unbalanced ..... I've never had that issue before on a new turbo. So call pwerks.

Yeah I didn't watch it too lazy. Just watched it that doesn't look too good when I first bought my s256 though it hadn't been oiled yet and had some play. Once I installed it it tightened up and I never had any issues with it. The guys at bullseye said it was normal to have some play when they're brand new. Yours looks to be a lot though I would deffeniatly call and see if you can email them that video. Also it looks like in the video it is in and out play. Mine didn't have barely any in out just side to side.

I just got off the phone with Pwerks and they said it has a dual bearing ceramic bearing or something like that and it's gonna have a lot of play in it until it gets pressure then centers up, but they said they'll check out both videos I sent them including the youtube video and get back with me about what I should do.

Seemed like really nice guys, they said they'll pay for the shipping costs too if they need it back and will ship it fast on the return.

So yeah, I'll keep you updated if interested

Nah man. If anyone has that kind of sign its me. From day 1 I thought my car felt slow but the original owner just told me it was a conservative tune. Turns out its something else entirely...engine internal issues.

GTI's are too expensive, anyway, and not much more reliable with mods.

I heard GTI engines and tranny are bullet proof. Just everything else will become a issue. Electrical, weird sensor issues, etc. Then after 80k miles it's a piece of ****.

So I probably have a good 2 week or so before I can install. Boooo

YEah, VW's and electrical problems are like like chocolate chips and cookies. They just go together.

Our motors are just as much, if not more, reliable than the VW.... It's the rest of the stuff around the motor and outside the engine bay where the differences are....
