I thought we figured out this psi **** a long time ago, when cardelino18 blew his motor to shreds and everyone wanted to know why.

Some had pistons gapped too close from the factory, others didn't.

I ran my k04 up to 26psi with no issues.
I knew some dude that blew a ringland on a 22psi tune.
I know others have ran 30psi for 10,000 miles.
It all depends on the tune (enrichment) and what the car can take as per timing (knock)

But WTF do I know lol.
We will see how long this motor lasts me with the s256et @ 26psi.
I have 35000 miles and if it gets me to 70000 I'll be happy.

I've had the 30 spike for at least 15k miles. I get 0 KR at WOT and even light boost it only phantom knocks. (Goes to like 3 for a sec and goes right away)

Mine was tuned by brian (area47) but the base tune was matts (Mdub) tune that he dynoed 350/426 or so.

0 issues with this tune.

It lasts because I drive my car responsibly and take care of it. And btw the tune only hits 30 psi if your below 4k. The closet to 3k the higher the spike till its at 29-30.

On a 40 or 60 punch it only spikes like 26-27 and holds 25.

I've beaten a few other bolt on ss/tc with this tune and they had the same mods.

Anyway, only 2 more days to enjoy the tune..

LOL that 30 psi race tune file actually came from me originally and if I read your ECM I could prove it as I have a copy right here (brian might have slightly changed a couple things if you have an intake). I sent it to matt to dyno test on his own car (made something like 342 whp 412 wrtq corrected). I ran it in my car briefly but It was never ment for daily use hence it is a race tune or map as you call it. May car still ran faster 60-100 times with no spike just 24 psi all the way from 3000-6200 RPMs.

you don't need 30 psi to make those numbers i think thats what the point of what they're saying you can have a better power band, make more peak whp on less boost

the 30 psi isnt so much for the numbers as it is for that insane torque spike.

a 60 roll in my car on the 30 spike was awesome when the clutch would hold. put you right back in your seat.

24psi tune here, 357whp 409wtrq in a rwd drivetrain, more loss than a cobalt.

Efficiency is the word of the day.

What the fun of not being able to do pulls in 5th I liked to do that to ricers that were pissing me off, but not pissing me off enough for me to put in the effort to downshift.

And. no matter what that 30+ psi spike is causing damage. It weakens the ringlands tremendously.. so it will go boom over time but quicker then a properly boosted car

If that is what you wanted then great but I just had someone he tuned call me the day before yesterday for a retune because he does not like his (MDubs) 30 psi spike tune and its horrible drivability (light switch like power delivery). The best part about it is that all he did was load the tune no data logging to dial in the tune and no checking to make sure it is safe (30 psi safe tune LOL) with no knock. Anyone who does something like that has no business tuning cars. I would not have paid him if it was me.

i've always wondered if you could make similar power/torque of the 30psi spike on less boost, i want at least 400tq in my car, i built the motor so i know it can handle the extra heat but i don't want to push it to the limit

Yes. It can be done. 24psi flat produces a better overall powerband although generally makes less peak torque than a 30 psi spike but it depends because more timing and a more aggressive A/F can be run with 24 psi vs 30psi in the midrange.

Driving the car helps but 30 spike is pure stupid, and to people who want them, need to mature up and understand why its stupid and why they shouldn't do it unless they have money to fork over.

Batmowheel Results

Name: a33El.jpg

Here is the dyno runs, I did change the tune for the Batmowheel due to the tune spiking 30 PSI (didnt want to risk the motor). The Batmowheel was on a 24 PSI tune with a little more timing than the 30 PSI stock turbo tune. That is also why the torque is lower for the Batmowheel than the stock turbo run.
