Check Gas Cap Message
This morning on the way to work after I got off the high way and came to a stop. A message " check gas cap " come up on the dash. Is this message caused by the purge vavle on the intake manifold ? Or the one under neath the car at the gas tank ? Or neither ? I know for a fact my gas cap was on tight. The engine light is not on at all. And the car seems to start up fine and has no problems ideling. Any thoughts as to why this message would come on ?

My local dealer told me $55+ taxeds for the purge valve on the intake manifold. And $65+ tax for the valve under the car by the gas tank. The guy at the gm parts counter told me to replace both valves. Seems pricey to me. I always thought they were all of $30 or $40 dollars.

I checked rock auto. Great site and prices. But they listed 3 or 4 different solinoids for our car. Which one do I order. A few of them even look the same but have different part numbers. Anyone know which part number is the corrrect one for an 09 lnf ?

PV423. Just go to your local parts store. If they don't have it in stock, they'll have it there the next day (more than likely). It worked for me.

Check the fuel lines towards the back of the car where the start to bend to go up and loop around to the fuel tank. There is silver heat tape that has cloth underneath that traps water and rots the lines out underneath. Went through all this with my 08 ss. I smoke tested it and it looked like the fuel tank but I did more digging and when I cut open the heat wrap it looked like a marshmallow underneath. Thankfully rock auto sells a fuel line kit that you simply assemble in pieces from front to back. Must be common cause my buddy's 06 ls did the same exact thing. Except his started spraying fuel and was obvious. The rock auto kit is way easier than trying to buy the factory lines whole and trying to jam them in
