TOB clutch problem what should i buy

Heres my problem iv bough a cobalt sport 2008 in 2017 and the engine had been swap with a 2.0T lnf back in 2011..the engine only not the tranny!....The last owner told me there was this ceramic stage 3 clutch installed too back in 2011...the car only has 50 000 miles and the engine 30 000miles...i kept having this problem the last 2 summers about 2 times each summer which cost me towing +850$...the clutch pedal falls to the bottom and oil pisses everywhere under the car and that EVEN if im not rough with it..it keeps happening i cant have fun with the car in it actual states and it brand new its very frustrating the engine has a lot of power its somewhere around 305whp with front mount intercooler+downpipe+ magnaflow cobalt 2008 cat/less exhaust +magnaflow muffler...hks bov+cold air intake and hptuner etc i wont get into the details since the probleme isnt there….now some people already told me even without knowing the brand of my clutch that the clutch was the problems since aftermarket clutch pressure plate are of different thickness wich cause trouble with the TOB and master cylinder...i think it is my case but im lost...i dont know what should i do and i want to keep the car of course….if the aftermarket clutch really is the problem should i replace it.. but which one i cant tell...and which part of the clutch too i dont know...do i need to buy a new TOB+master cylinder+flywheel+clutch? The mechanic at the garage has just replace the master cylinder for a brand new one for the fourth time and it has only about 1000miles on it since...i dont want to beat the car up i just want to roam freely in the mountains there is a lot of mountains here and i want to do so without being afraid of the car stalling on the side of the road about each 2 months

If your throwout bearing/ slave cylinder keeps failing on you and you keep blowing brake fluid out of the bell housing then it sounds like you need to have The trans removed and measure the installed height of the clutch assembly and then measure the fully collapsed height of the throwout bearing. A.k.a. meaning that the aftermarket clutch is further away from the throwout bearing, meaning that the slave is fully extending its travel and blowing out. Zzp performance has an entire tutorial video of what exactly to measure and how to do it. They have everything you need on their website, the throwout bearing, throughout bearing spacer. Whoever put the engine in most likely was not aware of these issues with these cars and didn't check and measure before mating the trans together. If the brake fluid got in the clutch disc then the clutch is garbage and don't reuse it. I went with south Bend stage 4 clutch which is a full ceramic as well, and I got the throwout bearing spacer but when I measured everything I ended up not needing it. Mine is a 08 ss lnf

You can email the guys at zzp performance and they are very good with helping and can get answers for you. It might be the same trans as what comes in the ss, certain models of the ss came with non lsd transmissions. Im assuming that everything should work because they did make a cobalt ss that came with a naturally aspirated 2.4l. You will read a ton of threads where this person put an adjustable master cylinder in and it worked, or another person put in 3 slave cylinders because they " got a bad batch". Long story it sounds like your slave is overworking and failing prematurely. They may ask you to find out what the trans number according to the vin build plate located in the trunk. With mine I went with the south bend stage 4, the lnf slave cylinder, alignment tool for the clutch, through bearing spacer, then I went on rockauto and bought just a luk OEM style flywheel since the clutch and parts alone were over 800

I agree that it sounds like the tob is over extending and blowing the seal.

Agreed they didn't measure the air gap when installing that clutch and the tob is over extending and blew. Will have to take trans off. Get new tob and clutch pipe. Measure air gap , zzp has a video on it on their site . if gap is too large, buy their spacer.

It is confirmed now..the F23 tranny from the cobalt 2.4 is installed with the 2.0T engine instead of F35 tranny that is 2.0T oem tranny...so this might cause some problem to with the TOB over extending and blowing up....iv been able to contact the first owner of the car who modded this car back in 2011 and its seems like it would be an exedy stage 4 clutch inside

Now you have to find out if the lnf throwout bearing will work with a lnf clutch and if you need a spacer for the clutch

it is the F23 tranny...contacted the first owned hes bought the car brand new in 2008 and Lnf engine from a crate in 2010 and got it installed in a speed shop in 2011 along with the other mods but no tranny..the swap with mods cost 13,900$...so im stuck...iv contacted Ryan derrick from zzp and they dont have a clue since its the f23 tranny on a 2.0T they told me it was a hard one to tackle and suggested to install an ajustable clutch rod which may fix the problem or be a temporary bandaid or eventually buy an F35 or F40 tranny….i might have to bring the car to a nearby speed shop and remove the tranny from the engine bay to measure everything and see if this is the Lnf TOB inside or the TOB from the 2.4....im not a mechanic and this is all new for me all i can say is that i dont have the tools to do it myself and this is gonna cost an arm im thinking about selling the car this is getting on my nerves

Honestly im sure that someone on here may have an old f35 trans laying around from a f40 replacement for a decent price, that way you can use everything for the lnf cobalt trans
