E47 guys?
 

Ok i have a rookie/newb but simple question for those of you running E85/ pump gas mix. How are you mixing the 2 together? Are you filling a gas can and taking it home and mixing or do you pull up to 2 different pumps a the station? I have been comtimplating trying this but was currious on how your doing it. Thanks

5 gals 93 & 5 gals E85 at the same pump, two card swipes. My commute burns 10 gals/3 days on E48, 11gals on E60. 60% is a 2:1 mix.

Not for 48%, Gimpster ran a bone stock SS on E85 but ran into cold starting issues under around 40*f I think. I'm pretty much bolted on the stock turbo and 70% E is about my fueling limit on raised fuel pressure (2800 psi) though. My mods are in my profile.

Lots of timing and MAF calibration offset to get enough fuel in the tune mostly since we don't have any stoich tables.

I live 20 miles away from the nearest e85 station, so I'll drive down there, mix the fuels, e85 first, then the rest, and then fill a 5 gallon tank of e85 so it saves me a trip. Now that winter has set in though, back to 93 octane 0% ethanol :)

So lets say that i decide to do this, could i fill up w pump meet my tuner top off w e85 and just start driving and letting him log wut the car is doing so he can change the tune? Also just curious say i mix 1/2 tank 91 octane and 1/2 tank e85 would the car run the same as 1/2 93 and 1/2 e85? OOh better yet any place i can got to read up so i quit asking rookie questions, lol

I have a thread or two on the HP Tuners forum you can follow on my experimentation if you wish, LNF Ethanol Experiment parts 1 & 2 IIRC.

I tried an 87 octane & E85 mix once but got some KR at 26* advance so I went back to 93, I suspect 22-23* advance would be fine on it though.

After you put the E85 in, you will have to drive it a few miles to flush the pumps & lines, reset the fuel trims/ECU & start logging. Skew the MAF correction table 14%positive to start and have him dial it in from there. 20* advance is a good starting point also.

If you have access to HP Tuners, I can tune & review logs via email if you want for a nominal fee. :)

i know this is an old thread but ive been tossing around the idea of running e47 for a bit and have a few questions.

how accurate are those online e85 calculator things? say i test the e85 at the pump and it comes out to e70 instead, is it safe to just add more E into the mix to achieve e47? like for say 12 gallons i would do 8gal e70 and 4gal 93? instead of the traditional 50/50.

what about those branded E85 blends they sell in drums? (vp, sunoco, etc.) are those good to use for those who dont have e85 readily available? seems to be the same as e85 but consistent and alot more pricey but im not entirely too sure.

I just used the little quick fuel test tube you can buy off of amazon to see what the e tests at. Then yes, you would need to mix it a little different than 50-50 if it was off. It's not hard to do and really isn't much of a pain for the 20-25whp it can give you, plus it's easier on the motor. I've ran e47 8 months out of the year for several years and switch back to 93 during the winter as I pretty much park the car.
Goggle "George belton e85 calculator" as it's really easy to use once you determine e content. You have to be tuned for e47, but I'm sure you know that. These motors on e47 are a lot of fun.
