AFDC Ethanol: E85 Fueling Station Locations

This should have all or most of the E85 stations in the US. For me E85 is like $0.80 cheaper a gallon.

SSlobalt May 13, 2011 02:47 PM

That's hilarious. I live 3 miles from the only pump offered in my city!

AndrewSS/TC May 13, 2011 03:07 PM

In my area e85 is near a dollar less than 93. IIRC

alleycat58 May 13, 2011 03:09 PM

FYI, it's illegal to produce your own E85. You have to be licensed by the ATF to be a producer of E85, regardless of whether it's for personal use or distribution.

ya, it's also illegal to grow marijuana.. how many people listen, and does the government REALLY care if you produce 2 5 gallon jugs of e85 per week? obviously ethanol is essentialy what moonshine is, but if you add some gasoline or something toxic to the mix you probably could produce it for yourself.

not gonna live in south austin anymore ;)

K-Train04RL May 13, 2011 03:14 PM

its not really cheaper as you burn through it quicker. yeah it may be cheaper at the pump, but when ur filling up 3 times a week instead of twice, it adds up.

only downside.

I am pretty sure you have to add some type of emulsifier to the mix because gasoline is a non polar compound and ethyl alcohol is a polar compound. Polar and non polar compounds do not dissolve in one another just like the classic example of oil and water.

Moving up to the burbs, huh?

I've been considering the E-85 tune for a while, but I just can't make myself do the switch. I may be talking with you about it soon, if I decide to pull the trigger. My warranty is up now, so yeah.

That's a myth. It's not as cheap as the price makes it seem, but I've done the math, and I'm still saving IIRC a little over $200/year by going with E over 93.

Agreed. I usually got 24mpg on 91 and I get 21mpg now on E85 in town. Losing 3mpg but paying 90 cents less and having way more safe power is way worth it to me ;)

SSlobalt May 13, 2011 04:59 PM

It's just the driving out of town that makes E-85 suck. I have it close by my home, but nowhere near my parent's house, and they live in the sticks.

If I drive that, my wife would have to drive the 'balt. She hates that car and she would probably put the wrong fuel in it.

I do it for the power not for the cheaper fuel.

Hell dude my bad... I dont have a list of Canada... maybe try Canada's department of energy. I bet they have a similar list that they keep. I'm sure the U.S. does it for tax and security purposes.

ei3dag3 May 14, 2011 01:34 PM

just put the e85 tune on a friends sstc and holllllllley shit it pulls. e85 here is $3.41
i may throw the tune on mine for kicks even though its going to be sold soon.

1Quick07SS May 14, 2011 02:19 PM

Im new to E85, ive heard of it and thought about using it but does it require a tune? I read in some of your posts that your putting an E85 tune in your car. Do you have to tune for it to run it or is that to see the benefits of it?

Needs a tune for shizzle. I is more knock resistant, this allows you to run more spark advacne. It also holds an oxygen molecule which allows you to run "richer" and will give you more power. It will get you more horsepower (varies depending on mods). It is also cheaper than regular 87 Octane fuel. The downside is that it losses a good percentage of fuel economy compared to premium 91 or 93 octane.

ecot3c inside May 14, 2011 06:00 PM

so the gas city that I get my e85 from turned into speedway and now they don't carry it. so there is a speedway across the street from a speedway... :wtf:
