Engine Disabled - Eng Pwr Reduced

So my cobalt started doing this, randomly yesteday. Happened about 6 times in 10 minutes. I got home safely thank god. Today I went for a drive and it only happened once in about 10 minutes of driving. Anyhow.. gonna bring it in.

This is my 5th visit to the dealership in 6 months of owning the car, anyone know at what point your supposed to say, give me a new car this one is **** lol

Shift linkage broken
Service air bag light randomly comes on
Intake to turbo line snapped
Now coming in and our of a engine disabled mode while driving randomly

Ive been taking it in everytime something goes wrong, so I have documentation of everything that has happened. They never end up fixing anything becuase its hard to replicate at the dealership. But once my car is out of warrrenty I aint paying for this **** to get fixed that I brought it in for once already!! /end rant

Have you checked your factory intercooler end tanks for cracks? They are prone to failure due to being made of plastic. Its a growing trend among t/c owners.

Did you notice a lack of boost before this happened?

Do you have mods at all? That would be usefull info.
"INTAKE TO TURBO LINE SNAPPED"...uh...there is a HOSE and hoses don't *SNAP*..so I'm thinking it's the EVAP line attatched to the intake pipe? That line is braided hose. Is that the one? If so, they snap for a reason. removing/lifting the air box
(to change filter) without DICONNECTING that line prior.

Prone to failure? I don't think so. They can crack (1) when under stress with aftermarket charge pipes attatched (2) Excessive boost (3) IC is hit from car being lowered.
This is the opinion from someone who has stock IC and none of those *issues*

Umm I noticed it happends going over bumps, railroads tracks. Etc.

I seem to be boosting fine, its tough to tell becuase the temp here changes all the time. So I bost from 12-15 psi day to day.

My end caps havent been checked yet, but they did sustain trauma earlier on in the winter.. its a possibility.

Also my Intake to turbo line that snapped, was replaced by dealer.. but I could 'check' it.

Not sure what I would be looking for though. Its definately something mechinical as its triggered over bumps.

ideas?

That makes it sound like the IAT2 sensor.

I feel for ya man. I've only had my car in 4 times in a year and a half but the list of different **** that's gone wrong is seriously disappointing. I should get my car back Monday with "everything fixed" (not the first time they've said that and didn't actually fix half the problems) and Ill see how it goes from there. Like you I really don't want the warranty to run out and have the car be a money pit so I think the current plan for me is to save up ~12k and use it for a down payment on an STI or EVO X. Gonna take me a while but I should have it by the time the warranty is up. Ill just trade the balt in and let someone else deal with it. I'm just hoping I wont get raped on how much I owe vs trade in value...

Well if they dont fix anything, and basically take your car for awhile to look at it. Make sure you get the service record, or report or invoice or whatever on paper afterwards stating what you brought the car in for, and what they did (or didnt do).

If I bring my car in for airbag lights going on, (and they dont fix and do anything).

You still have a copy of paper stating the issue happened and wasnt fixed, so in two years you get decapitated from your airbag going off randomly, you can at least get it fixed still, or sue them. lol
