So 2 weeks ago I was driving and noticed when I got on it that it would only boost to 5 psi and the turbo surged/fluttered pretty bad when I let off (bpv didn't work) I stayed out of boost the rest of the way home, pulled my forge bpv out and the spring almost appeared to be stuck in the piston not allowing it to compress. I had lubed it up this spring before starting to drive it again, and it still had some Mobil 1 grease left on it. I chalked it up to a freak occurance. Next day it drove fine. A day later it was back to the same thing. My tuner said to try my stock one as I checked all my t clamps on the pipes and they all were tight. The stock one hasn't missed a beat since I installed it. So the question is- what could cause the forge one to be doing this, and how many others has this happened to. I know there are a few guys on here with zfr's that still run the stock bpv setup. Sadly I bought the forge one about 3 years ago because I thought it was more durable. In my case i guess I may have been wrong.

What spring were you using? Green or yellow

Springs wear, material wear. My guess is the spring is not compressing properly and causing the piston to bind

Don't remember Matt , it's the one everyone else uses. John said his messed up so bad he threw it against the wall of the garage. Do the o rings on the piston wear with time?

I've heard these wear out pretty commonly which is why I never got one.

Yes they do. It's a metal on metal part with prongs and all that good stuff. It blows off every single time you let off the throttle. I mean its bound to wear sooner or later.

People really mistake how bad the stock bpv is. They work great and on my efr it worked up to 30psi no problems with the right spring. Sure the diaphragm can rip but as everything else on the car they all wear out.

I just had to ensure it would no longer work again.. Haha

After dealing with these things for as long as I have, I'm personally done. Never again will I recommend for someone to purchase one or "upgrade" to. Yes the stocker has it's draw backs but, I've personally always liked the stock unit. It's clearly not flashy and cool, but it's super reliable and predictable.

My Forge gave me issues even with the weakest spring. It never worked right for me. Forge CS was not much help.

Well this is disheartening. I was planning on picking up one of these but i guess ill save myself the headache.

Dont bother.

Deleting the BPV solenoid is a better mod than using a Forge. Hell, even using the Forge directly from my IM source didnt clear the issues of it hanging up.

Where was this good info 3 years ago..... Sounds like more of a common issue than I had thought. Guess I will order a spare stocker to have on hand in case my original's diaphragm decides to tear. Thanks guys.

I have been running the forge BOV for almost 2 years now with only a few hiccups every now and then cause from it no longer being lubed. Would lube it and it would run fine again. Mine were mostly it staying open after blowing of and not completely closing again.

45,000km on my forge BOV. Need to lube it I think it's eating the black rubber ring lol. Other than that it's a very long and loud blow off. Sounds very nice for the little $ invested and 5 minute install.

My forge was leaking so i put back in the stock bpv and issues went away

never had issues with forge bpv, running it for 2 years now. just lube it properly once a year or so, and I found that the mobile 1 lube that comes with is crap, doesn't last long, used cheaper brand of synthetic, forgot the name, worked much better.

I have a 1yr + with my forge bpv and no problems whatsoever

I have mine on and no problems lol.
