Getting downpipe, need tune?
 

2010 Black cobalt SS/tc, k&n typhoon intake and im looking at getting the zzp canned tune.
They have all the options for intakes injectors and turbos variations but nothing on tuning out the cat. Does anyone have any experience with them? Whith this tune in particualr?
Should i just run untuned non cat?
Please help

You need a tune for the intake, not the downpipe. The power gains with the catless downpipe are due to less restriction and cant really be tuned for if you were to have a good tune already.

I thought they had a spot so they can disable the code you will get when you go catless.

The tune wakes up the car but you will want more power fast lol. Cuz that's where I'm at now lol

There are codes that need shut off, but there are more things to be changed for no cat.

I can get the codes shut off but what other things would need to be tuned out?

Im running gms1 at the moment and am thinking of ordering a whole new ecm with the zzp tune on it, can i email them asking to turn off the codes on the ecm before they send it?

The warm up tables and protection tables for it.

When going catless, the cat warm up should be disabled (although not 100% needed), the correct DTC's need to be disabled (roughly 12 in total), and cat over temp protection needs to be disabled.

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to disabling the cat warm up cycle. It is not a good idea to simply disable the warm up cycle without proper tuning in other areas. Otherwise, mainly during colder times of the year (or even cool mornings), the car will hard start like a son of a gun and borderline not run until warmed up.

Yea, being in northern alberta i think ill just get the guy to leave the warmup.
So if i disable the protection codes and ect it wont hurt the fueling at all?
A/F ratios wouldent be out of wack since the o2 sensors are reading the same air?

To do it right you need to tune for it being gone.

So meaning ill put my new downpipe on and have to take it across town to get it tuned ontop of getting the zzp ecm? Or should i just get the guy in town to hp tune it and forget the zzp tune? :cssNET:

Yea, im leaning towards just getting the zpp ecm as it is a safer tune, and im cheap, dont wanna blow it up. So would i be able to specify in the zzp tune that i have a catless downpipe, and thus them tune it out for me?

I have had my CIA catless downpipe for 5 years and have never thrown a code for not having a Cat. I guess it just depends on what downpipe you buy.

I was looking at the zzp 2.5in replacement. But ive heard all about an angled 02 bung, which will make it so you dont throw codes? I thought the o2 sensor had to be in the flow of air how would the angled bung make a difference?

Its angled so that the sensor sees less airflow and thus it wont throw a code.
