GMS1 Instructions and Hints / Suggestions
 

Good morning,

I am having a friend help me with the install of the GMS1. He works at the dealer so he knows what he is doing.. BUT Since the dealer hasnt installed this kit on any car, not even the HHRs I wanted to give him as many details as possible. Can anyone please send me a link to the instructions and or any hints and suggestions that I can show him?

Very easy install just make sure you solder the wiring and follow the proper pin outs

I heard that when you go to install the MAP sensors, you must shave/sand down the stock pastic mount on the lower CP because there is a pastic nub that prevents it from sitting completely flushed and can cause boost leak issues.

By the way, is the solder steps in the instructions or are you saying to solder them instead of just using a basic connector?

I need to do this on my car, and I wanted to know if there were instructions on how to do it. I don't want to screw up and buy new sensors :)

Solder all electrical connections

Don't use shitty connectors

The instructions say to use the crimp/heatshrinks that come with the kit. Go the soldering route, heatshrink each individual wire and wrap the whole bundle in it as well. Electrical tape the bundle relatively tightly, surround the whole thing in conduit and make damned sure it won't keep smashing off the AC condenser. If it will make sure there enough slack to tie the cabling away. I've had the joints re-soldered 3 or 4 times now from it cracking off the condenser alone. It's now tied to the lower CP with enough slack that it can move some but nowhere near that condenser.

I thought if you do the install yourself, rather than letting the dealership install, then it still voids the warranty?

I'm not trying to thread jack but I'm looking at doing the GMS1 and a friend of mine works at a dealer and is going to buy the sensors for me (discount) and I was just wondering if anyone has part numbers for the parts that come with GMS1. If I can help my buddy out as much as possible I can get him to reflash my car for free and save a few bucks. Any help/info would be sweeet

Here is the parts list but the new/best way is to buy the kit from Crate Engine Depot with the jumper harneses that Tom just had made, that way no soldering and crimping is necessary. Below I have listed some of the MSPR prices of items in the kit. I am sure you can find them cheaper. To ge the official calibration you need the special calibration code on the instructions for the kit. If not the warranty is voided and the dealer can not download the calibration.

Me and my buddy who works at the dealer were just talking about it. Its not set in stone that he can flash my car on the side. He was pretty much thinkin out loud. So I figured id ask the people (css) who know a lot about these cars to try and help my buddy. Try and get a jump start. Even though I'm going to drive the SS during the winter so I might just wait until next spring to do the GMS1. Idk if the extra power will go well with snow

Wish those nice plug n play connectors were around when the GMS1 was done to my car. Would look so much cleaner!!

This looks very promising, I was looking to see the reason for two different kits for the GMS1 kit and found my answer. Just wondering now if I buy the kit, will my dealer install it or are they going to give me some bs about having to buy from thirty service department. I saw it was going to cost me 690 plus tax with my employee discount.

If they give you s* take it somewhere else, Its a GM kit there is no reason for them not to install it. It makes no difference where you bought it and its no different than your car, its covered by GM at all GM dealers.
