I need ZZP intercooler help
so it looks like I need to buy an intercooler... stock finally took a dump.. and it looks unfixable... so I am thinking ZZP due to its direct swap..
so here is what I wanna know.. I have a current full HP tune.. if I swap out to the new intercooler and don't retune.. because I have no access to anyone who can currently.. what can I expect? any issues ? is a tune really "required" for this? I know people say that to maximize any additional bolt-on's that a tune is the smartest step.. but I want to know if I can get away without it until I can find someone who can... or in the unfortunate position to have to purchase the tuner to do it myself.. noooooooo!!!... so who's got the Intel on this and can offer up some good responses to this situation. and if there is an intercooler with just as good ground clearance and is a direct fit.. please let me know thanks all. |
No, no retune is needed because the stock intercooler flows air almost as good as any aftermarket intercooler. Also zzp should sell 2 types of intercooler. One should fit good and should clear most dips. The other hang a bit lower its a bit larger, but you have to be careful with the dips on the road. I have the tr8 intercooler and fits perfect.

You will be fine without a retune. I have ZZP's regular, or lower hanging, model. I am dropped on coilovers and don't have issues hitting anything. As long as you don't drive straight up steep inclines you're fine.

What about for zzp upper charge pipe? Is retune needed?
|
Not at all.

Unless your getting a ZZP lower charge pipe as well and relocating your MAF there, you wont need to retune.
|
No retune is needed for any charge piping or intercooler, unless as stated ur relocating ur maf
