Aftermarket clutch/ next steps in build/ misc

Hello again everyone. I am a new owner of an SS/TC, and my car has coil overs, hard pipes, SRI, a cat-back, and (as of today) a ZZP tune. Now I am getting close or beyond the power the stock clutch is made for, but my car was owned by someone previously. SO, I am wondering if it is already aftermarket. Is there any sure fire way to tell without spending 4+ hours tearing it apart?

Also, giving the info I gave above, my next steps in my (somewhat tame) build is a nice set of Nitto NT05 tires, and maybe some other traction mods like bushings and stuff, then a downpipe and intercooler. Now, my goal is to maximize power and still be somewhat safe on the stock turbo and stock engine (aka not blow engine).

So, my question is, what is a safe power level to run at (keep in mind I don't drive ***** to the wall everywhere, and the power is for when I want it, 95% of the time I am just cruising. And what should my next mods be to make that happen giving what I stated above? I am currently running at about 21-23 psi on the K04.

Also, for the misc: does anyone either want to sell, or know where I can buy an OEM owners manual and all of the new car literature/binder for the ss/tc? I like to save those from all of my cars, and alot of common questions can be answered in there, but sadly the previous owner of my car must have kept it himself.

Thanks again for the help, you guys are the best! Seriously though, the MSP community is so terrible (much like the car) compared to this one. I am really glad to be back in a Cobalt. The car just puts a smile on my face every time I start it.

edit: forgot to mention my comments about my tune. Today was the first time I've ever tuned any car I've owned, and I just have to say, HOLY **** what a difference. My car feels like it is twice as fast as before. I've done mods in the past, and didn't really notice much, if any difference. But this gave such a huge bang for the buck it wasn't even funny.

You can stay with the same output on the turbo(22 psi), but as soon as you throw a catless downpipe in there you can gain another 30+ wheel torque and still be within your "safe" zone. Easily felt by the butt dyno as well.

Matt tuned me as well, good ****, ZZP's labor for a clutch is more than reasonable and they've done so many they're efficient at it. I had mine done as a precaution, I have their/the South Bend stage 5+.

However my buddy D out in Lansing has been e85 + bolt-on's tuned by them and all and is still on the stock clutch. How I do not know.

How come you say you're wanting to get NT05s but you have them in your sig?

Just kidding. They're good tires but you're definitely gonna want a backup set for winter... especially up North.

You should've gotten a downpipe before getting the tune. They don't cost much (especially if you go catless) and the gains are significant. I'd be surprised iif ZZP didn't try to sell you one or tell you how much more you'd make with one.

Your build sounds nice. You should post pics.

Oh an Fyi, after my tune (canned zzp tune, very slight tweaking on their part) I hit 290/330. I am hoping with more aggressive tune and e47 and my new intercooler that I will hit 330-340 hp, maybe a bit more. I dont know if I have a down pipe or not, actually, Matt said he thought I did, but I need to get ramps for my car to jack it up because it is too low to see under and my jack wont fit. haha

I am scheduled for a retune on e47 monday morning at ZZP

From my email with Matt from ZZP:

"The injector seal issue is hit and miss. I have been running my 08 injectors from the beginning and have not had any issues. We have dealt with it on a couple LNFs, but one was running gas only. Its tough to say."

Went and got it done today. I am very happy with the gains from e47 (22hp-30ftlbs throughout the entire powerband) And it hit 310/360 on ZZPs dyno.

However, overall all of my mods combined it seems like other people are hitting the same numbers as me who have all the same mods, but no e47. I am wondering if this is because it was a mustang dyno or what?

I was really thinking I was gonna get at least 330hp. The torque was dead on what I hoped for though.

EDIT: had 210/260 intead of 310/360

What kind of Dyno were you on?

I gained 23hp/30tq through the entire powerband, like exactly. Its very nice, having the extra low end is nice for more than just racing around. haha

When I filled up with E I didnt plan out my trip good enough and I had about 3/16ths of a tank left so I just guessed and got 6 gallons of E and 2 Gallons of 93, and Matt said he tested my fuel and it was right on the money 47%. haha I was pretty proud of myself for that one.
