I would prefer to grab a reading from the top end - where you will see the lowest pressure...
and when I do this, I will do my best to hide it...
on a related note - does anyone have any opinion on an oil pressure gauge which most closely resembles the appearance of the stock boost gauge??

Just out of curiosity can you tap the galley plug just under (drivers side) the oil filter location? I am installing on an LDK engine and there are no galleys on the back of the block. But there is one under the oil filter. Can this be a place to hook the sending unit? I don't really want to take out the stock sensor.

please see the link I provided in my last post, or the link provided in post #12.
there are plugs that go along the front and back of the block;
you can in theory use any of those plug spots - but in my opinion the ones on the rear are too tight (close to exhaust/turbo) to use, so I used a front plug;
the linked adapter allows you to pull a plug, and directly connect the aftermarket sender to that adapter.
I don't know if I have a picture, but I will look on my computer to see if I have one.
What I do recall is that you need to grab a source from below the head, because there is an inline restriction which lowers oil pressure in the head - and will give "false" low readings if used - so that's why everyone is using a plug/spot on the block.

this is a screenshot of the LNF engine from CED;
I added red lines to depict where the oil system access plugs are;
At least I seem to recall there being four plugs;
The fourth plug location isn't visible in that image;
Part #110 is the plug that will be installed in all locations;
I used the one closest to the timing chain, because that put it the furthest away from anything else;
I could be wrong, but I believe that the LDK ect, ect have a revised oiling system - I found images on my computer of other replacement engines, and they didn't *appear* to have these access spots.
If I can help any more, please let me know.
