are you trying to read it as in make changes like you would do if there was a stock file on it? Because you won't be able to do it with most HPTuners as well cause they lock there tunes as well. You can't say its all Trifecta. I mean I have HPTuners as well and started out at Trifecta but most HPTuners lock there files. So it's not just Trifecta that does it. If you flash the stock file back on it you will be able to read it.

I couldn't tell ya what is going on. I took it in and had the dealer hook it up to Tech 2 and flash the stock tune on and they said the parameters were already set to oem specs..but HPT couldn't read it.
And yes...I am trying to read it to change it

thats because trifecta sets the calibration to what your stock one reads. So the tech 2 will think its stock... your going to have to flash the stock file on it for HPTuners to read it to change it.

So I just installed treadstone stage 4 and went to have my tuner read my PCM and it was locked. So I went to my gm dealer to have then hook up tech 2 to flash a stock tune on it. I picked it up and they said that the tune already matches their oem parameters. WTF??? Could this be gms1? The car was previously tuned ( or so I think since it boosted 24 psi) and would beat a stock ss/tc in a street race. Idk what do now short of buying a new PCM

lol.... Wow. You do know his interface needs to have his vin in the system for him to do a full write. If he cant read the file hows he supposed to save the vin and serial in the interface.??
QUOTE=Pyros777;6015480]If you're being tuned with HPT, you should be able to do a write entire regardless of what is on the PCM (assuming the correct OSID and VIN are on there). There are stock tunes in the tune repository your tuner could have used to flash to your car. Once flashed, your tuner would have been able to read back your PCM without issue. How did he not know to do this?? There is NO need to buy a new PCM.

LOL!
His tuner doesnt have the entire model year unlocked??
Edit: Ok ok. To be fair, you need some extra credits or the entire model year to do what I suggested, but he said he went to a tuner. This is why I unlock the entire model year whenever I tune a car, even if I have to take a hit. Helps in the long run with stuff like this. Sorry I el oh el'd at you.

Ok, that sounds about right then. A trifecta tune, even if its showing the correct OSID and VIN, will not let you read it with HPT. It is a security measure on trifecta's part, and no where do they state that the tune is supposed to be modifiable with HPT.
You need to:
A) Find out who tuned it if they are local, and ask them to flash the stock tune to the car.
or
B) Get with someone who has HPT and ask them to do a write-entire using a stock tune. This will overwrite anything that is on the PCM and get you back to square one. They may have to charge you for credits if they do not have your model year unlocked.
As someone previously stated in this thread, the Tech 2 didnt work because the trifecta tune is designed to look like a stock tune. I imagine they could have forced it to flash anyway, but am not familiar enough with that device.

Okay here's the scoop. Took it to GM, had them flash a stock tune using a different VIN from another model year (mine is an 09...I used a VIN from a 2010 SS). had them flash the 2010...which removes the trifecta tune and leaves the PCM blank. Then they reflash it with my original vin and a stock tune. Then bam!...read and writeable with hptuners

does your car have the correct vin. Did the car start after the gm flash if it didnt its within there system, If it stopped running after the hptuners read or write then either the wrong year flash was put onto car , or the read or write didnt fully write, redo the write and do a write entire.
