low boost and p0451 CEL
so about a week ago out of nowhere my car was having issues every once in a while starting and rough idle, like it was starving for fuel. then it throws the cel P0451 which is evap sensor. I havnt been able to do anything about it yet because i have been working doube shifts the past week. So im driving yesterday getting on the highway and at wot im only getting 5-7 lbs of boost. checked under the hood didnt see, hear, or smell anything unusual, but then again i dont know a whole lot about tc cars. any help would be appreciated.

We get codes like that at my job all the time........it's just an emissions problem...no biggie.
I assume that's a generic code in reference to pressure loss in the fuel system. Check the evap solenoid and make sure it's working, check the fuel pressure regulator, check the evap canister and all the lines connected to it, and make sure there are no leaks. Hope this helps |
Some have has issues with that EVAP solenoid sticking open and causing a vac leak. That would explain your rough idle. The solenoid is cheap. Buy another or get it replaced under warranty.

Thanks for the help I'm at work right now but ill have to check tomorrow. Would any of that explain the boost prblems though? And just today I went to the store and the boost was normal on theway there but on the way back only 5-6 lbs again

Hope this helps I'm on a new solenoid right now, after the old one got replaced under warranty. It still swings way rich and then way lean, and then back to normal. How would I go about doing a better job checking the canister and associated lines back there? I don't smell vapor or anything obvious or anything. |
forgot about this thread i started, and for anyone who is still paying attention it was just a bad solenoid, all under warranty :)

Was it the front Evap Purge Solenoid, on the intake manifold, or the Evap Vent Solenoid, on the back canister?
|
it was the evap vent, dealership replaced that, the power sterring pump and washed the car all for free haha.

how lond did it take for them to fix it ?
