Mpx exhaust and 1 of 2 intake ?
Mpx exhaust and 1 of 2 intake ?
So just wondering if anyone has the whole mpx catless dp and cutback setup? How do you like it and if you wouldn't mind do you have a soundclip?
And just a question as far as intake go, one who have the k&n or Hahn which is your personal better choice and why? Thanks guys looking to buying some of these and just wanted some personal opinions!

I don't have any sound clips but I really like the sound of my MPX setup and install was easy with perfect fitment..I have the K&N Intake it fits perfect and sounds great. My buddy has an 08 with same exhaust as me with a Hahn intake and he loves it and no fitment issues. I personally like the K&N a little better because its a SR and you have much easier access to the filter for cleaning.
Alright thanks for the review! I really like the Hahn but have kinda wondered a cold air intake won't really do a turbo car very much good would it? It would be just as good as a short ram?
exactly lol thats what im saying all the air passes the intercooler before the tb. the intake air just goes into the turbo so only thing id be worried about if anything is any water getting into the hahn which im sure wouldnt
K&N will guarantee that it doesn't void your warranty, or so I hear. I'm not sure if that is part of your decision but it is something to think about. I realize that with a catless DP and catback exhaust, that might void your warranty. K&N has also been in the business for the longest. The only thing I don't like about their filter, as opposed to a AEM dry filter, is the oiled cotton gauze. From what I have read on here, it has a tendency to mess with your MAF sensor. That being said, I have a K&N drop in, and I have used it on more than a few cars and dirtbikes and motorcycles without any problems. That is also something to think about. Don't forget the tune to really take advantage of your bolt ons.
Ya well see the intake pretty much regardless for the cobalt should be fine I work at a dealership and as long as the intake didn't cause the problem or didn't suck any water then your good, same goes for cat back exhaust it's just there for noise so you should be fine, but things change when you talk about catless which I know is illegal because of emissions and what not but that could be a easy sway out if needed to take it in. I plan on going trifecta/byt tune wanna see if you can get the combination of them both. I have noticed that some of the k&n intakes for different cars are plastic like a hard plastic. That's not the same case for this car correct? I would assume it would be metal because of being forced inducted and what not. Thanks for the help so far guys!
you have a turbo car, it really doesn't matter which one you choose. its just a user preference.
not true fully. Heavy rain with a cai on this car is bad. I guess the filter is right below the headlight and water leaks down right onto the filter. just go search how many issues people have had with wet filters after a car wash alone on this site...
Ya and see that's something that I had looked at when I had a ls. I had the injen conversion intake like Sri and cai in one and a few times with the cold air it wasn't terrible but the filter was a little damp. And the last thing we'd need is for the filter to allow water to get in and create some sort of rust in the turbo. Or whatever it would do
Anyone else have a review on the k&n? Is it like the Hahn where it has about 3 inch piping bit slowly bends to the turbos fit? K&n is starting to look like a good idea. Even though it seems Hahn puts out better dyno numbers just slightly higher.
The water will displace the oil on the filter and cause the filter to not do its job. I have had K&N on a few quads and dirtbikes. All you have to do is go to any offroad shop and get something called an "Outerwares" for you filter. It has a treatment on it to help with water shedding off as opposed to running through your filter. I kinda agree with you OP about SRI vs. CAI... The air runs through the charged air cooler. The 1 or 2 degrees cooler air entering the turbo would probably produce no difference.
Its all about the tune bro. An oiled cotton gauze filter is an oiled cotton gauze filter.

if its that much of a problem then the OP should just buy a sri. its not like a sri or cai is going to give you 20whp anyway.
This is true the car will be tuned before I put it on. So that should help as well.. I would also think that the sri since it's shorter would give a little better throttle response?
exactly and theres a heat shield and theirs the stock cold pipe from fender to filter...people get way to **** on "omgz engine bay heat!!" well guess what, when you drive forward on the street cold air is brought in. When you dyno on rollers...fans are ****
personally after a long drive home, i've checked the engine bay and noticed that the heat shield actually does work. The temperatures around the filter are much cooler than those around outside of the heatshield.
of course sitting still with the engine running for a long time will cause the air to heat up around the filter eventually. The heat doesnt 100% cut off air from the rest of the enginne bay, it does maybe 90 - 95%
