New O.E. Spark Plugs by NGK

I was looking around yesterday for parts and I stumbled on these new plugs by NGK for our cars, they are pre gapped at .35:

Yes.

Colder plugs dissipate the heat faster, the distance is shorter between the body of the plug around the porcelain center insulator. Since you are running more boost and higher compression pressures, 1 step colder is appropriate.

I was curious about getting 1 ste colder plugs but couldn't really find much info. I'm running the regular trifecta tune at about 22lbs.

Would you recommend me getting them? I'm not misfiring at the moment and haven't had and driveability problems other than getting a misfire when doing nls when the engine is around 180f, then it goes away after that.

Thanks for the link- I am broke, You have been running these for quite a few months now with no issues? And they do not foul up as bad as stock plugs either from what you're post had said before?

Mron, I've been running 6510's for about 15k miles gapped at .031 (2 steps colder) No issues, fouling or misfires at 24 psi but the shipped gap is around .044 so it took some careful gapping to close them up.

The 3787's are on order. (1 step colder than stock) I'll report back after I run them a while. They come gapped to .032 so it should be pretty easy to close them up to .030 .

Jarhead - The ones I linked to above a few posts back are the stock heat range. You only need to go colder if raising the boost pressure when tuned.

The rule for going to colder plugs is every 75 to 100 crank HP increase you should drop to a colder plug.

On forced induction cars you use more boost (increased compression which means increased heat) typically to increase HP so I would stick to the lower figure; about every 75 crank HP I would go a step colder.

I just realized that these plugs are the ones that come in the car. I thought they were only a replacement.

FYI Rockauto has them for 8.58 per plug, must buy 4 minimum in a pack (heh duh).

http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,cata...,NGK_5476.html

And if you dig around you'll find lots of 10% off coupons on the internet.

Anddd if you're really bored, here is the list of NGK plugs they can get:

.030 to .032 gap. 1 range colder than stock if boosting >20 psi.

Ive been having what feels like a misfire under light throttle at lower speeds. Really feels like the car cant decided whether it wants to go into that "fuel saver" mode or not. I dont feel any misfires at wot but since im running about 23psi boost im gonna give these NGK's a shot. Gonna go with #3787

Well ordered me some of the NGK (3787) ILTR6A-8G Laser Iridium Spark Plug to give a try. I've always liked copper core plugs for boost applications. Going to try out the gap they come with. Thanks again for the info.

Got my 3787's yesterday, gap was .031, left 'em there. 50 miles this morning, all is well.

I had 10k miles on the 6510's, not the 15k I thought, they looked a bit cold when I took them out. No fouling, but darker than I like. These should be just right being a heat range 6 instead of the 7's I took out.
