Oil Catch Can
After doing a little research I definitely want to get a catch can. What brands/models are you guys using, and do they fit and install well in our cars? I'm looking for those of you who bought one off ebay or somewhere other than MPx. From what I've seen the MPx one is overpriced and really all you're gaining is the mounting bracket.

I really wish someone made a good oil/air separator for our cars. The hard part is finding somewhere to plumb the oil return back into.

treadstone sells some for like $90 I think. They are universal I think and not specific for our cars. I'll be ordering mine soon

Ebay, nice and cheap, works the same as any other

our catch can is a basic universal catch can, but we also put a synthetic mesh filter in each to help catch oil vapors out of the air and we also we give 10' of high temp 1/2" goodridge reinforced hose, which at $3 per foot, adds up the price of our catch can a lot.

Did you get one off ebay? If so, how did you mount it to your car?

I actually have an MPx one that was removed once I went with the big motor build from ZZP, really dont need it anymore, I could probably sell it for 50 bucks obo, but never really done the whole selling stuff over the internet thing, busy life. I am actually living down in Mansfield Texas in a way, contract work.

On another note, I just got my catch can and was wondering if the two hose connections have to go to one or the other location or if you can connect them to either the turbo or PCV location?

I think the usual spot that most people have been putting them is the connection between the VC and the turbo inlet. As Wangspeed stated, it's got baffling though, so you may or may not catch much there, depending on the car and driving habits. Therefore I'm not sure which line would really be the better line to put one on.
Just get two. |
