SRI vs CAI w/ hydroshield

Hey everyone,

I've been looking through the forums for advice on Intakes which obviously is stickied here in the LNF section, but I have not found anything concerning Hydro shields for CAI's.

Obviously the air under the car is going to be much colder and more dense than the air that is in the engine compartment, but the downside is that it's much easier to get water on the filter, yada yada..

I've been looking at some hydroshields for the CAI's and most of them seems to just be a cloth fitting that goes over the filter. Wouldn't water still get into the intake if you splashed a huge puddle?

Thoughts on CAI w/ Sheild vs SRI?

/E

if you don't want major headaches go with the k&n SRI.
i had the hahn one and when it rained or i washed the car the filter would get wet and my maf trims would be weird.
that isn't a problem with the k&n and it doesn't skew the trims very much.

I think I may have read on here the hydroshields are a tad restrictive. I could be wrong, someone correct me if I am. Regardless, I prefer the K&N SRI over a CAI. The K&N skews fuel trims the least and is probably the best intake to get if you do not have a custom tune such as Trifecta or HPT. The K&N sound is awesome too, you can hear the BPV pretty loud.

Did you have a Hydro Shield on it?

I was looking at the K&N, but I didn't see any reviews on it. I will eventually get a tune for everything, but I figured I'd get that last after something more important was in.

Get the K&N, we have them in stock, it is the BEST intake for the LNF.

Injen is the best if you have a 2.2/2.4L or Supercharged cobalt.
