Thinking about trying EBC out.

So as of now, my brake setup is R1concepts premium G3500 grade slotted rotors with Hawkpads ceramic (low dust) pads.

Lately the peddle is feeling a bit squishy and the bite is not there anymore, also getting some brake squeel. Im assuming the pads are on there way out soooo im looking at trying out a different brand of pads.

From what ive read about the EBC pads, the order of brake bite and wear are green stuff, red stuff, yellow stuff, and blue stuff.

Blue stuff is for like autocross and race events only. Im assuming they work very well under high heat and probably chew up the rotor a good bit.

yellow stuff seems to have excellent brake life and have an amazing brake bite that keeps on biting throughout the life of the pad. (considering these)

red stuff is a small step down but seems to work just as well. green stuff is there standard step up from OEM.

Anyone ever try these pads out? Im probably going yellow stuff just because I like to have the stopping power, and my cars yellow

What vendors here sell EBC pads? also might be painting the calipers so if someone could point out a how-to they used that would be great also pointing out the best paint to use for calipers would be good as well... along with methods of painting (spray can vs brush)

i'd probably go with brush.

i used greenstuff on all 4 corners of my mini cooper a few years ago......HUGE difference over stock and minis have good brakes from the factory. I would do yellowstuff....they have good fade resistance and don't require a lot of heat like some track oriented pads

I sprayed my calipers with krylon paint, it was the only thing I could find that would match well. Clean, prime spray. Been on for a couple months with no issues yet. When it does eventually fade ill just hit it again. Simple stuff, paying too much for powdercoating is overrated when brembo even recommends painting over powder. Flame suit activated.

Run away from EBC.

If you really wanted to keep high performing brakes, you should stick with stock pads up front. Hawk ceramics are meant to reduce dust, not to be high performance. HPS will have better performance, but still be less than the stock Ferodos, which are good high performance compound.

You bought brake pads that are doing exactly what they were designed to do.

I got the redstuff pads and they work pretty good. I'm sure that the redstuff pads are low brake dust, that's mostly why I wanted them

I just redid my brakes with Hawk HPS pads and they are much better than factory. They do dust slightly but no more than the factory I'd say.

I had the redstuffs for about 500 miles and threw them away. Never quit squealing.

Mine do make a bit of noise but I think it`s because of my slotted and dimpled rotors
