Ticking under boost!!

So i was on my way home from school and got on it a little and noticed a ticking noise that sounds like its the turbo, but the car still boosts fine up to 22psi. Car still has crazy power. Coolant is fine. Wasnt using the heater so i dont think it was the fan. Its about 60 degrees outside. Just filled up today so could it be the fuel? An exhaust or gasket leak? I really hope its not the damn turbo because i just got the motor replaced last month due to the porus block. Any help would be great. Thanks.

it's the turbo, I had the same problem with the OEM TC, out of nowhere the TC just started to tick, found out later the bearings where packed with baked oil.. since your engine got replaced under warranty, you should go back to the dealership and tell them before it to late.

should i take my tune off?

i had the same problem with mine...turns out i just had a stud loose on my 02 housing causing a little exhaust leak

It's the rivet on the internal wastegate flap. See thread here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...88/index2.html

This is apparently common with internal-wastegate turbos. Nothing to worry about.

can i still run the car or should i let it set before i go to the dealer. my buddy wont be home til friday to take the tune off, is it going to be ok to drive or just dont risk it? also would my tune havve created this problem with the heat? Thanks guys this helps a lot

If it is the rivet, you're not going to have any issues. It's just noisy. Keep driving. Chances are, when you take it in, they're just going to roll their eyes at you, anyway.

With how noisy these LNF's are ....a video would really help..... just a suggestion. I would be paranoid too if the motor was just replaced lol.

Dart_SI Oct 19, 2011 07:23 PM

you could fix it with a bigger turbo
