ur turbo is water and oil cooled, u dont need a turbo timer. u only need one if ur just oil cooled.

superbrowndude 09-17-2010 09:42 AM

Wouldn't it be a cheap investment for possibly an extended life of the turbo ?
I always let my car run for a few min before I go any where, and same before I shut her off.

Turbo Timers

It would be cheap yes, I bought one when I first got my car, but we don't need them so I sold it. Plus our security systems are a bitch and won't let it go past 30 seconds.

superbrowndude 09-17-2010 10:13 AM

Thats what Ive been hearing about the security shit, interesting !

Trust me, I know haha

I fucked with that thing for 4 days, you can't bypass it, its 30 seconds or nothing.

superbrowndude 09-17-2010 10:35 AM

Damn thats pretty bitch

My Viper 5902 has a turbo timer function that lets it stay on for 1 minute (although I can adjust it. ;)) But also I can hit the remote start button, and it can stay on for 12 minutes! (Or whenever I push the button to turn it off). So that's perfect if you are going into the store, (windows up & you lock the car keeping the AC running... ;) It's some good stuff. I use my TT a lot.

tomj77 09-18-2010 12:09 AM

alot of security/command start systems now have turbo timers built in, get that, then u have 3 things in one.

Cobalt_Daddy 09-18-2010 01:29 AM

bamaboy22 09-19-2010 03:43 AM

I know a guy in tx that has one and sets it for like 5 mins. That was the 1st I've even heard of them cause I knew nothing about turbos then. Idk how he did it maybe I will have to get ahold of him

whyyoumadson? 09-19-2010 11:32 AM

if you dont have a oil only cooled turbo dont waste your money. plus the security system sometimes acts funny with it. i have one but its souley so i dont turn the car off after long drives. i let it sit for a minute usually...im not stock turbo either before you ask

yea thats what happens when you dont hook them up right. ive had my turbo timer for almost 2 years and its working fine and i have it set for 1:30

as much shit as people do on here thats not needed the more power you add if you want to add "better safe than sorry" equipment to your car i dont understand why people always get up in arms about it.

do it, greddy is the one i have its not cheap per say but its a good timer just make sure you wire it up right and you wont have any issues.

Mind sharing your instructions?

whyyoumadson? 12-13-2010 08:12 AM

yeah mine sits for a minute no isses.... the problem still ends up being the sterio is still on and you need to open your door to turn all that crap off.

ericgt79 12-13-2010 03:51 PM

yea i wouldnt reccomend goin inside a store with it running cus when it shuts off the power to the car goes off and the doors open. the radio will remain on because of the left over power (forgot what its called) but if you open the door it goes away or just lock the doors it will shut off on its own.

and fyi my shits now set on 5 mins and still works fine.

Hate to bring up an old thread...
Can you share how to do it please? I pickd up an mint HKS timer for $35, so I figured what the hell. Any help would be awesome!

Take a look at this:

Home - Turbo Timer Companion Lite

Personally, I see no need for a timer. Just let it idle for a min or so after a hard run...or better yet, drive it around at cruise speed for a couple min before parking.
