Update on Colodude's 2017 rebuild
So Lucy's in the shop, and the engine is out.
I dropped off the new LDK at the shop yesterday and picked up the transmission and turbo.
I just dropped off the turbo at a specialized shop to have it checked out. Hopefully it's fine and didn't sustain any damage from running without oil.
The transmission is getting crated up today to go to Mr. Powell who will check it out and do a rebuild. It's probably fine but it's had a slow leak for a while now and he wants to make sure everything is A-OK.
In the meantime, the shop is going to tear into my old engine to see what exactly gave way in there. Hopefully it was just the bearings.
If the turbo checks out fine, and there is no damage to the old engine's internals, we're transferring the Wisecos, ZZP rods and neutral balance shafts to the LDK and transferring my built head over as well. I'll order proper oil feed lines for the turbo (!), and will probably install a turbo blanket as well.
The new Opel injectors from the LDK are going to Ray, with my own ones going in their place.
I'll be getting an LDK trap door oil pan from Powell to take advantage of the bigger oil capacity of the LDK over the LNF.
That's the plan so far. I'm excited to get Lucy back on the road & track. I'll update this thread as we make progress

Just heard back from the turbo shop already;
Their "turbo expert guy" said he cannot take it apart because of the titanium compressor wheel. Something about it being too fragile.
He mentioned that this issue (oil feed failure) happens quite a lot, and from his visual (external) inspection of the unit, in his experience, he is 99% convinced there is nothing wrong with it.
So I'm picking it up again tomorrow (no charge) and we'll make the assumption it is fine. Yay

Good to hear some news on it, sounds like you are doing a lot of good things to ensure it runs for awhile. I hope it was all contained to just the bearings. Still sad that it had to happen from a $20 part failure. And I'm glad you weren't blasting around the track when it did happen.

Adrian- I purchased a new supercore which included a new compressor housing, boost valve, etc, and got it to my door for about $925. Took me all of about 10 minutes to pull the other one and install the new one. You would be getting ripped off big time if you paid what they are asking. Let me know if you want the name of the place I got it from. Plus you could always throw on a 6258 instead if you were replacing it. It's a little cheaper, for the whole front of the turbo.
