Went through my e85 faster than I thought

Going to order a second batch through the supplier. Ran out faster than I thought, been enjoying the new tune.

The contact I have said that he can only guarantee that it is E70 minimum.

If the order is processed at the end of May, what % E85 is sold usually at that time of the year?

(Just for my mixing calculations)

Does anyone know?

Thanks.

you SHOULD be safe to assume that you are getting e85 this time of the year, but there is never an absolute guarantee unfortunately. The only guarantee they will give is that you are recieving a minimum of a 70% ethanol blend..

How much are you ordering at a time btw, and are you doing a 50/50 e-blend?

It's going to depend on the region, HERE is a decent chart to start with.

People really need to get a good test unit LIKE THIS to test your Ethanol @ the pump before adding gas.

Personally I buy e98 in a 55gal drum and mix my own e85 then add gas. The 10% they may or may not add to gas doesn't change the blend nearly as much as the seasonal changes of 70%ish winter, 78%ish Spring/Fall, 85%ish Summer. That's why I'm still working on 3 separate tunes for when I have to buy E & gas at the pump on road trips in the Sky.

Just my UpInIons...

This was funny when i was tuning my car for E. I would make the tune and save it then when i was around that area i would go ahead and put E back in to find that my fuel trims were all wacked because of a different blend.

raver0789 05-22-2011 04:53 PM

Yes, I figure the trims could get all wacked. That's why I always make the same mix in the same jug. One time I was in a hurry and made a sloppy mix and got 2.1 degrees of KR at WOT because the trims were %!@ked i think.

Yeah 55 Gal drum. It works out to 88 cents a litre for the conversion here in Canada.

If it's e85 I mix 50/50 with 91 instead of e10 94 like I usually do, which makes it simple.

I was told that my first shipment was e70 for sure.

This one he isn't sure about.

I was going to send vince an email to see if we could get a 91 octane tune on my select-a-tune base tune. Just in case of emergency, if I run out of gas somewhere, the car sure can drink the e!

Thanks.

Here in Michigan it is only guaranteed E85 sold mid-June -Early September

Usually lower outside of that time. I'd expect Ontario is the same.

raver0789 05-22-2011 04:59 PM

Hahaha, if only Ontario had ethanol, then life would be easy.

It's not too bad as it is now. I can only get away with this because I don't daily drive the balt.

i am only getting about 250 miles(avg) to a tank on the 50/50 tune. I just reflashed my car for 93 last night because I am about to go on vacation and I think 400 miles to a tank is a better idea lol.....when I get back, I'll go back to e

Car is great on the mix when not in boost.

However, 3rd gear is so fun, so that reduces fuel economy.

Car makes the tires chirp in 3rd.
