Hey guys. My car has been acting up when it hits boost for a while now. It has bucked, spit and backfired when going into boost. Now it is making this noise. I took a video of it, it was in 2nd gear. One of the videos you can hear it about to do its sputter and buck but I let off. I'm hoping its a boost leak but the ticking / flapping noise has got me pretty concerned. Any ideas?

 

Congrats. I have never heard a sound like that before.

Check your fuel trims and check for a boost leak.
Take your intake off and check turbo for shaft play.

It doesn't sound like valve train noise to me, but for sure a weird sound.

Could be as simple as an exhaust leak and the gasket flapping.

 

haha thanks! I found a very small boost leak on the stock pipe. Ordered the ZZP pipes and couplers the other day. Hoping its not the wastegate.

 

that noise sounds like ur turbo to manifold bolt came loose and ur gasket is vibrating. same sound mine made. go under and check it out

 

I know I’m late to the party but did you figure out what it was? Just a leak? Also did it ever do it at low boost? My car makes the same noise.
