ZZP Z54 Turbo info

93 to start. Eventually I want to rebuild the valvetrain and get the ZZP fuel lobe cam to go with it all, but that'll be down the road. I'll probably just end up buying barrels of E98, and blending it down so I don't have to deal with inconsistent pump E85.
I forgot to mention earlier in the thread, my stocker that came off had a decent amount of shaft play in all directions, so I guess I needed a new turbo anyway.
So I'll have some numbers for a conservative setup posted here tomorrow. Didn't plan on going ***** to the wall but we'll see how I feel when I get there. I'll give first impressions on it, and towards the end of the summer I'll give my full $0.02 on it.
Edit: Just noticed you're local to me, I'm out towards Mclean and 20 visiting a buddy of mine all of the time. Guess you have the Balt he confused for mine one day, even called and asked if I was in Elgin.

So.......
The disappointment continues. Today is the only day I'm going to have free for a few months, since I start my new job on Monday. I'm already here at PWerks, and I'm going to have to settle for a street tune :-(
There is a ln NSRT4 sitting on their dyno that blew up on them last night, and needless to say it don't move.
So I'll update this post with how it drives, and it'll be later this year before I'll be free to throw it on the dyno.

Yeah, I wanted that e-peen number though. I think it'll be good, and I will throw it on the dyno to at least get numbers for it later, but for now I'll at least be able to update my LuK flywheel/GMPP clutch combo thread with how it likes it.

Ignore this post, for some reason my phone won't update the thread even though it shows replies.
Edit: And it still won't show me Canadia's reply
Edit#2: Lol I would love that, but Dave is short handed it seems, and I don't feel like pissing anyone off today. Good news is I no longer need to pay for dyno time today, free street tune it is.

Okay, so quickie update before I go spend the day with my family for my birthday, DAMN this thing moves!
It does spool decently quick, but it's not instant. I asked Dave his thoughts on it and he said it spools slow enough that barely any boost ramp is needed, and he doesn't think it could overpower even just a simple GMPP clutch. Going off the flow rates he said it's around 400whp, but obviously that's just a guess without an actual dyno. It really starts moving at 4500rpm+, so new valve springs to rev higher than 6500rpm is definitely in my future. But once it's moving, it pulls like a freight train. The gauge shows 27psi, but he says the maps show 25, so we'll go with that.
All in all, well worth the price, even if you aren't revving it out. And it's still responsive enough that just cruising you don't feel like it's holding you back.

Awesome, maf airflow numbers are generally not too bad to go off. As long as the maf is dialed in, any idea how many lbs/min you were flowing?
edit: also the rate of increase on the lbs/min if you are able to screen shot the pull to see the graph of the MAF

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see what it puts down, but I can live without it. Not like I can't just throw it on a dyno some other time to see. I cared more about the driveability, and again totally worth it for guys who don't want/need 500+hp builds but want more than a stocker can give.

No idea, I honestly forgot to ask for the numbers, I just asked if he had a rough idea of power based on airflow.

I agree in my opinion I believe the turbo steps would be K04 -> Z54 -> 7163

And it starts already. Did you hand over your man card? My efr is setting in a box in the garage with order placed in my gmail account. Just like all the guns that she has seen me cleaning and when asked if it's a "new" gun, I simply say-" naw I've had this for awhile". I buy a lot of black guns, and they all look the same to her....

Still no clue why it never shows me Canadia's post until after I respond.
It has a boost ramp, but it's so minimal compared to what you would expect from a normal zfr. Easiest way to describe it would be how KMO43 says the 7163 is, it's just so smooth and linear that taming it is almost not needed.
And sadly, no videos. I never think of taking videos/pictures when I should until well after it's all done lol
