AEM Wideband question?

I just installed my AEM Wideband guage the directions say that this sensor has no abrupt oscillation, however mine is going crazy. it idles between 14.1 and 15.3, when i floor it, it reads 10.3 and when i let off the gas, it goes off the scale, the numbers turn in to --- dotted lines. is it suppose to do that? also the directions say to mount the sensor between 18 to 36 inches of the exhaust port and before the catylitic converter, however the cat on the SS/SC starts at like 15 or 16 inches from the exhaust port. im wondering if this could cause a problem?

you custom tuned or is that the factory tune? If its the factory tune or stage 2 tune that sounds pretty normal. and as for it going off the scale when you let off the gas thats becuz their is no gas entering the engine and its only reading air so it goes higher than the gauge can read. If im wrong someone else feel free to chime in

Why did you even buy a wideband if you dont know how it works??

Anyways yes its functioning correctly.

edit: stock tune? looks a little rich.

your right. it only reads so high then it will go blank with 2 dashes. and the lowest it will go is 10. if your flooring it and its a steady number then that is your afr. but if its going around 14-15s while driving that is perfectly normal

14.7 is perfect

hungryhip-ccp 06-20-2008 11:36 PM

that is perfectly normal...

i thought it looked good, but the directions said that it didn't osculate, but this one does. didnt know if it was suppose to, thanks. and yes i am still factory tuned, my stage 5 kit will be in progress this winter.

are you sure it didnt say it doesnt oscillate around 14.7 like a narrowband? cause yours does more than that, it also reads 18:1 and 10:1....

exact words from book " Because the AEM gauge utilizes the internal AEM UEGO controller and Bosch UGEO sensor, it is accurate and repeatable to 0.1 of an air/fuel ratio point! With this there is no abrupt oscillation as found in many competitor gauges which utilize a narrow band oxygen sensor detecting only stoichiometry." ok, now reading what i just typed and what you asked ya i guess it is saying that.

Your wideband is working fine. You're approximately around 14.7 is at idle, but he LSJ always sweeps for some reason. The 10.3 you are seeing under load means your car is rich as hell and needs to be tuned.

rich as hell would be my gm stage 2 tune in the 9s when at high rpms lol. I will have my aem wideband installed tomorrow, I will letcha know how things go.

the UEGO is really made for when your WOT, so you can fine tune your Air/ Fuel.
Your numbers a perfectly normal when at idle, mine is the same way!
