areoforce only reading 87 % throttle.

hey guys I just hooked up my areoforce gauge and was looking at some of the displays seeing what they all did. While driving at full throttle it was only reading 87% just wondering if anyonelse was getting this or if there is something wrong with my car and it is not getting full throttle.I would think it should go to 100% when at full throttle.:ca:

Don't quote me but I believe it has something to do with the fact that our cars are drive by wire. If you notice, it also shows like 17 percent throttle when your not even hitting the gas at idle. If you really had concerns about it, you could take your intake pipe off and turn on the key and have a buddy sit in the drivers seat and hit the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Look inside the throttle body and check to see that the butterfly is all the way open. Just don't hit the gas to the floor more than 3 times because you will reset your oil life...(happened to me once!!!)

Later,
Vince.

The TPS, which is what the interceptor reads, on most LSJs only shows 87 or 88% at WOT. Now with HP Tuners, if you scan the ETC you will get a 0-100% value. I have heard of some LSJs where the Interceptor has shown 100% but mine only goes to 88%.

oh, ok. Well i feel stupid now :D

so I guess the interceptor gauge is inaccurate then. Maybe they have a updated program for them? If they are inaccurate in this parameter then how trustworthy are they on the others my hp is only at 187 also.and I can never get the engine load to 100%

patathSS 01-20-2007 12:58 AM

Its not just the Interceptor. Its everything. The TPS signal will only max out at 88%. Check out this HPT screenshot.

You can see the TPS is only 88%.

This is a HPT shot scanning the ETC. You can see it registers 100%

what is the etc ? so does this mean we are only getting 88% throttle opening? or am I missing something?

patathSS 01-20-2007 03:33 AM

No the throttle body is completely open. The ETC is electronic throttle control. This will show you 0-100% of what your throttle body is open. The TPS (throttle position sensor) does not show 100% because of the drive by wire system

Thats because , since it is a drive by wire , the IAC motor was eliminated ...the throttle blade in a drive by wire TB acts like a IAC motor in a TB that was cable operated . The throttle blade cant be completely closed at idle ....the car would die . The IAC motors in the older TB's channeled intake air thru a built in passage that was just before the throttle blades . They could adjust the amount of air it let past the closed throttle blades to maintain proper idle , keep engine revs in check during decel ect. Thats another reason u may see some periods the throttle is open when your foot is off the gas completely .
