Bigger H/E Install with Pics!!!
Bigger H/E Install with Pics!!!
Well, Today I decided it was the day to finally install my Bigger Heat Exhanger that I have had for quite a while now. Yesterday I went to Napa to get some 1/2" NPT/ 3/4" Heater hose fittings to go into the side of the intercooler. I had made some brackets a while back for it that I thought came out pretty damn good I think, I painted them black so they wouldnt rust. And then Finally came the heater hose, Luckly, I have some 3/4" heater hose laying around work. I only used maybe 2 feet of heater hose to hook everything up. And I ran my intercooler in-line with the one that is already in the car. And if anybody is asking if my temps dropped, I really havnt done any hard pulls to figure it out, But what I did noticed it seemed to drop the temps a tad on the way home.
If anybody has any questions on anything, Please feel free to ask or PM me . Thanks and go enjoy the pics now!!

The joys of being an auto Tech, A lift to work under

The brackets that I had fabbed up and painted

Just another pic of the brackets

Here is the Intercooler before it goes into the car

Kinda gives you an idea of the brackets

Some pics of the intercooler mounted

Ground level pic of intercooler in Car

Here is the elbow that I had put in between the stock hose coming out of the stock intercooler, running a new hose into the front mount

What nobody should be without, Brakleen

Congratulations man I know you have waited long enough.
Keep us posted on how it's working out. I can't wait to see it Sept 22nd +rep for a good mod.

Not that i know of but I don't know if that would be good to do seeing as it takes time for the intercooler to "cool" and the faster you put it back over the cores I would think the worse. Maybe i'm wrong who knows. Just my .02
Just a tip to anyone else doing this. It's easier to pull the line going into the "inlet" side of the intercooler pump and tap in there, then into the second H/E, from the outlet of the H/E to the inlet side of the pump. This causes the flow to go from the stock H/E, through the second H/E then through the cooling cores. From the way CTORANGESC has his done it looks like his flow is setup this way too so I'm not knocking his install but it's quite a bit easier to do this way than trying to get that line off the stock H/E as he did and put the new pieces of hose in at that point. The way I've done it used about 5' of hose.
That H/E is huge!.... compared to the cobra one. Very nice.

Yeah, You can do it with HP tuners. The pump speed increases as RPM's rise. You can make it so the pump is on full blast all of the time.
