Calling all Twin Charged Cobalts!

Im thinking about going twin charged. I am curious on how much the turbo lag slows down that "instant on" blower power...and how much the blower inhibits the turbo on the top end of the rpm band. I know this will mean I'll have to spend some $$$ but i'm hoping to have the best of both worlds as far as power!

A proper turbo set-up would be more reliable and can give you higher power. The blower basically only has effect til the turbo spools.

I would just go turbo swap if youre looking for huge power.

Thanks but I am aware of this. I'm looking for responses on how the power feels from people who have actually driven a cobalt with this setup.

Okay, I was just replying to the fact that you were saying you wanted power. Hope you get the answers you want.

I get full spool on my 50 trim garrett in 4th gear around 3750 rpm. When I'm just cruising around town at low rpm's there isn't a ton of power. Boost does built quite quickly though from 2750 rpm and on up. It is a night and day difference from the m62 and basically instant boost and power. My overall power is better as well as economy. I would never even think about putting a blower back on the car.

what i like about the linear, instant, blower power is that it "feels" like N/A. i drove my buddies WRX "STI swap" (first turbo car i ever drove) and i didnt like how it didnt do much for 2 seconds after smashing the throttle b/c the turbo needed some time to spool up. though im sure it will grow on me

i just dont want to put another 2G's into it, even after selling my blower setup, and then cant even hook up in 2nd gear. i could put the wider '08 wheels on it but personally i dont think anything looks better on the Balts than the '07 polished aluminum wheels.

I highly doubt anyone who has a twincharged cobalt is actually going to post on here since the total is only about 5 at best. And ZZP is one, the purple cobalt formerly owned by Donna is another.

What manifold are you running? I full spooled my garrett 50 trim with a .63 turbine JUST over 3 grand when I had it on for like a week. Didn't like how it pulled up top tho so I got rid of it.

Only time I can't prevent lag is on street tires 0-20mph, easy fix. Break boost and boost is instant from a roll.

So OP while a twincharged setup is possible on the cobalt. More possible than a lot of other cars in the world especially 4 cylinder motors it is just more practical to go to an all turbo setup or a TVS. I too have done heavy research thinking of twincharging but you'd need a decent size turbo, a crazy tune, and plumbing for it would be insane.

Yeah it's not that hard bro. It's actually easier because belt routing intake manifold and supercharger setup does not change. Ppl just complicate it because of the sheer idea. The tune isn't as hard as you would think either. It's blower tune down low with more fuel needed up top.
