canned tune? OPINIONS PLEASE!
I've got a 2.8 pulley and 60 lb injectors coming in the mail and my current mods are injen intake, 2.5" zap cutback, and GM dual pass endplate...
I realize a custom tune is my best bet....but they cost roughly 500-600 from the shops I got quoted at...and I want to get some more things done before getting my custom tune... (header/dp, heat exchanger...)
SO my question is this... What has everyones experience been with canned/mailorder tunes? Where did you get yours and how did you like it? any issues?
thanks!

I'd suggest talking to Gremlin85, he's in the Lowell mass area.. Could probably get him to come down to CT to get a street tune done. He like a couple hundred to tune it
I am getting a ZZP canned tune for now until i can setup a time with Gremlin to tune. I'll keep you posted on the quality and accuracy of their tune. I am doing a 2.8 with full exhaust, zzp 3" intake, and meth

Basically think of your stock m62 supercharger as being a safe way to mod. Your are not gonna produce a crap lload of power to hurt the engine. Heat is going to be your enemy so just make sure you get some cooling mods, like the option b tank and a bigger heat exchanger. It really doesn't matter about your exhaust side being stock or not, your car will be fine just concern your self more about the heat your supercharger puts out.

From what I have seen, no canned tune is 100% no matter who you get it from. This is why I have put off getting my car tuned, I don't trust a canned tune. I am abought ready to say fck all these canned tunes, half assed so called tuners out there, and just buy HPT and do things myself

Ive had a canned tune from PCMforLess on my LS1 Camaro - it was actually pretty accurate. I would not say they are just to get it to drive. They do have performance in mind, but safe performance.. You won't be making all the power on the table but it should be pretty close if they have been around

Lol you do realize canned tunes are just made so your car can run with the mods you have, they are not made for performance. This is why you will be rich on a canned tune. So you can trust a canned tune because the chances of you running lean on one isn't really likely. But hey good luck in buying hpt and tunning it yourself, I'm sure it will be real easy to do

No guy, I didn't know that. I am looking at things from a reliability point of view also, not performance. Idle hunting, random stalling, etc, which can be hit or miss with these cars and canned tunes isn't trust worthy to me. LOL @ the HPT comment. That's what reading the information available and putting the knowledge to use is for. You can keep on relying on the local half assed HPT guy that just slaps the overall same basic tune on for everyone else and calls it a day, like most Cobalt owners do
