cobalt addiction 2.5 DP review

well, soem of you know, i got this installed yesterday,(with cat) i must say it sounds good with my gmpp sport exhaust and gmpp exhaust manifold, i am takin it easy, breakin the cat in but i did punch it here and there on the streets and gave a couple of revs to show my bro the difference, he was impressed, it does make the car idle louder, you can really hear this sucker grunt lol, then hit the gas and she screams, i was impressed with the quality of this down pipe, i felt the gains breifly when i hammer it down, like i said breaking it in, so in a few days i will really get on it and im sure the more gains will be felt up in the top rpms, for me it was worth the wait, everything fit perfectly with no problems at all, just thought id share my happiness, thanks again CA!

one quesition, when i installed this, the sound and tone of the car changed, i do hear a whistleling/ whining kinda sound, when the throttle is pressed, i noticed this too while givin some quick lil revs in my garage aswell, im just wondering if this is normal?, everything is bolted tight and the fitment of everything is perfect, im assuming its just the better piping and its flowing better so i hear things that i guess i never heard b4 or probably never noticed before even when the stocker was on. so again thanks CA, and i will eb doin more business with you in the future even if it does take a couple of weeks to get here lol.

X2^^^ We told you so. Congratulations bro. It's like night and day hah?
The DP fits nicely and no weird noises. Good quality stuff.
Post some sound clips. I'm curious to hear the difference between the GMPP manifold and a header. Again congrats bro and wait untill you get on it. Mid and top end are kick ass.

I checked mine yesterday. I put my hand next to all of the connections. I didn't feel any air at all.

no leaks i also notice the more i drive it, the more of a lower tone is has to it, just took it fora coffee run, it sounds deeper than yesterday, god i cant wait to hammer it, it kinda drains the sound of my intake out at low rpms but when i giver the intake ofcourse starts screaming

Sweeeeet. You are going to love the header too. No fitment issues at all and good gains.

ok so hold on do you have the honed manifold from GM or the XTC header??

Reason i ask is because if i get the XTC and the downpipe do they have any problems or fitment issues?? and also they throw CELS of any sort??

And is the honed manifold from GM big enough to be connected to the XTC downpipe??

thanks for answering my questions

I have the XTC header and the XTC 2.5" DP w/cat. No fitment issues at all and no leaks.
No CEL either because I have the cat.
Yes the GM honed manifold will bolt right up to the XTC downpipe no problem.
That's what distillion has for his setup. Here is a sound clip if you want to know what my setup sounds like.

I just ordered my CA Downpipe w/ Cat, GMPP Performance Exhaust, GMPP Exhaust manifold, and Eiback springs. Can't wait till it all gets in! You are getting me excited... BUT one question... what happens if I don't pace myself and break in the cat properly? WHat if I take it out and just hammer the hell out of it?

You want to break it in because of the cat. If you are running rich at all you will eat that cat alive. You want to get a little coating of carbon on the internals before you go at it.
Running rich eats cats and you don't want to do that i'm sure. Once it's lightly coated you're good to WOT!
A good break in is 200 miles or so and that translates to 320 km's or so.

I hear you man. I just don't like the raspy sound you get without a cat.
Plus people have shown maybe a 1-2hp gain by not having a cat.

Yes it is my friend. I think I might have to give it hell through all the gears on the way home for the 1st time. Have fun distillion.

No fitment issue but I'm getting DTC P0420 Catalyst System Low Efficiency .
I have the 2.5 DP with cat. Contacted Kenny here's his reply.
I'm going to just get a O2 Simulator.

"The high flow cat flows more than the stock cat and are less restrictive, thus the 2nd 02 sensor is reading a higher amount of gases ...so it is common that that code can be thrown . I haven't heard of anyone else with that problem yet ....but you can be probably the first 07 with the downpipe so far. They may have it programmed more sensitively because of the 05/06 cat problems that are common. Gm will probably have an update soon if it becomes a problem and the new release will probably solve this . Another solution is the hP tuner software can shut it off completely or use of a O2 cel eliminatorThank you ,Kenny"
