Cobalt SS/SC wont hold idle.
Hello all,
I own a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/SC with a GM Stage 2 tune/supporting mods. the issue I'm having I believe to be ECU related but I'm unsure. I bought the car about a week and a half ago with the tune and supporting modifications already on the car, drove it for 2 days and it ran beautifully. when I dropped it off to my buddy's shop for him to safety the car, it sat out in the rain for the day and when I picked it up at the end of the day, the car went into limp mode after less than a minute of driving, we scanned the codes and found a MAF code, an O2 sensor code, and a Camshaft Positioning Sensor code. and a when we went back to the car the next day, the ECU had completely locked us out and we had no access to any of its data. we went back to the car a few days later expecting to have to push it into the shop and onto the hoist to work on suspension but we made an attempt to start it and it ran completely normal. we scanned the car and it gave us a PCM P0601 Memory code and a P0341 from the Camshaft Positioning sensor. cleared the codes and I drove it 35 minutes home with no problems, no new dashboard lights, and running flawlessly.
fast forward yesterday when I went to drive to drive the car and started it up, it started up normal, idled for 5 seconds, and then the ECM disabled the engine, take out the key, open the door, close it again, and go to start it and it would do the exact same thing. it is now showing a P0601 again. we were told the MAF sensor causes a limp mode but it hasn't thrown a code since the original one. I bought a programmed ECM and put it in the car today to see if it would help anything but now the car does not want to start or even crank. it is throwing the P0601 along with a P0315 with the ECU I've just bought in place. the ECU I bought may not be programmed although according to the seller he has not removed any of the programming from it and simply pulled it out of his blown up car. besides that, does anyone have any advice on what to may be going on with the previous ECM that seems to be causing the problem
any and all advice is appreciated and helpful.
Thank you all!
