cobalt sssc is it worth modding????
ok i have a 2006 cobalt sssc cx heat exchanger air box mod hks muffler. i really wanna go hard into making this a 12 sec car but i always put off buying pullies and all that other junk cuz i dont see anyone really make much power. i love my supercharger but its just seems to be so inefficent with having to spend 100000s of dollars for cooling it. i really would like to do a 2.8 pully nice tune and 60s. and from what i understand leaving the exhaust the same size but putting on just a high flow muffler helps keep torque while still flowing better. and stock intake is the best i mean gm engineers did spend along time developing this car for a reason. what do u guys think i got the car for 16900 with 27000 miles on it in jan 2008 thats roughly 16000 dollars cheaper than an evo.

lol gm slap that intake together....get yourself a good cai like an injen...as far as the exhaust you can do an axle back cause at the axle it goes from 2.5 to 2.25...but for 12's you'll need a new good clutch...2.8...60's a killer tune with meth...stage 2 axles and traction mods like the rotated trans mounts from ottp

Run on sentences with a lot of babbling...
I'm no expert, but 12's might be hard. I dunno. |
ohh and a nice header/dp
|
humm i c .....but......do u guys think that it is worth it??????lol totally missed my question.
|
our opinion on this doesn matter...it depends on you, cause you will be the one spending money on the parts..but personally its worth it cause the balt is a sleeper and beating people with a balt is priceless...... i can also tell you that 12 's is reachable....you go the NOS route , or just go with a 2.7, 60's , intake, header/dp, stage 2 axles, a lot of cooling mods(h/e, meth, some porting etc....) and also street slicks and you'll probably be in the high 12's
|
Yea its worth it if you like going fast you should change out the stock supercharger for a better one that is more iffiecent don't know how to spell that word if its misspelled lol
|
well thank you... i appreciate u guys helping me.. if anyone else has any valuable info please let me know.
|
Your best way to go is get the TVS supercharger......... OR go turbo

Cool thax lol

The most important thing to learn how to do is drive. If you can drive, putting a cobalt with 2.8 and 60lbers with meth into the 12s isn't all that hard.
|
Sounds like you're a prime candidate for a turbo conversion.
|
The biggest thing you need to get into 12s with a 2.8 is traction. Not just tires and a sway bar. Were talking coilovers and such... Drag tires will do wonders.
well your not gonna spend 10000 on upgrades. A whole turbo kit is about a 3rd of that. the choice is now yours, stay sc'd, or go turbo. |
ok so i only read the first few post but... i do think the SS SC are worth modding. you can go TVS, turbo, or stick with stock blower... 2.7 and up pulley are ok... intake, header, catless dp, and full exhaust, keep the heat exchanger, maybe get option B, and a dual or single pass manifold set up (cheap if you can make it your self) and meth is a possiblity but not a must. then an after market clutch and axles would be safer way to go, cuz then you can mount some drag radials on it and hit 12s... not too costly.
|
Best Bet is to go Turbo. I surprised a couple of pepz back in the day with my cobalt though.
I had. Fujita Intake (3") My Own Tune. Pacesetter Header with fabricated Downpipe and No cat. Magnaflow Exhaust. Snow Performance Meth Injection Kit (Activating at around 3500k to 7k RPM) 21 degrees up to 5k RPM then 25 degrees from 5k to 7k RPM. The car was pretty fast. Specially when all those degrees of timming Kicked in. Thats all I can remember. I put down 292whp and 250wtq. ( Dont ask for Dyno Slips, I dont have them anymore) |
