Cobalt stage 2 Broken MT-2 Tool
 

Hey has any 1 had the problem of trying to change the pulley on the stage 2 from the 3" stage 2 to a 2.8" pulley. my bolts are so tight that i broke the MT-2 tool that comes with the kit and now im shit out of luck. GM dealers dont have this tool at there shop nor they said they cant get the tool seperatly. i would have to buy the whole kit over again just to get the tool. has any 1 had this problem and if so how can i get my bolts off witch are suposed to be 18ft lbs of torque and they are not. how can i get them off now with out ruining my whole supercharger.

nope--it's an offset-type bit--similar to what we use on our F-16's. They suck where I work too because they're always breaking and stripping out screws when you try to remove a jet panel. AN-style--I think some people are dremeling the bolts off, but I wouldn't recommend doing that until you get some replacement Hex bolts from Nate. I think whoever landed that government and GM contract should be shot. The design sucks.

cobaltz51r--don't forget to add some cooling mods eventually, the smaller pulley is going to create more heat--bad for performance and reliability. Cobra heat exhanger and Royal Purple 'Purple Ice' coolant additive should work wonders.

yea im on the waiting list from WWW.Cobalt-Addiction.com for that heat exchanger but what should i do to get those bolts OFF tho they really do suck and GM wont do anything about it They say they cant even get that tool for there own shop. to take it off for me when i brought it to them you kno

What you may have to do is use a dremel cut-off tool to grind a slot in the bolt head, then use a large screw driver to get them out. Another option is drilling the head off, removing the pulley, then using a vise-grips on the studs which are left.
