I know this is old, but did you install the Remflex? How do you like the gasket?

haven't used it, still waiting on my exhaust to come in. first place took over 3 weeks just to give me an effin refund, and now we're on day # 10 waiting for my hahn exhaust.

idk wtf is with having an issue just getting an overpriced exhaust for the car... PFYC had the magnaflow system to my door in 3 days, i shoud've just kept it instead of going through all this headache

I have a 2 bolt 2.5" remflex for my SMS header that I can't seem to seal at the downpipe I'll be putting it in next weekend...

I was just curious if you've used it, because I saw a BUNCH of Subaru guys complaining about them...

What exhaust are you trying to get??

before i was trying to get a corsa touring, but i guess they are a BTO or production has just stopped on them cause no one has them in stock. alot of places claim to and when they contact the warehouses/suppliers, they can't physically locate them.

now i have a hahn exhaust on the way (at least i hope it is cause it's been 10 days) i'd rather have a 2.5" exhaust just to keep it quieter, but a custom corsa or borla would end up costing some major $$$ then lord knows if i can't even get a production piece, how long it would take me to get a custom one

I talked to Jim Browning Jr at Corsa, super guy, he recommended corsa touring, 260 bux, but he had to make it, none in stock, Cobalt not a big selling line.... I am thinking stock LNF Muffler at the moment; its straight thru, 2.75 inch inlet so not so bad....after that Corsa? I dunno...the dynomax turbo muffler has shut itup some but not there yet.....

did i just read that number right? Same problem I ran into with the corsa touring infliction, went to buy but none in stock and ended up with the gmpp touring. Also quick favor, can i get the link for the permatex product quick and the gasket u got infliction. I have the zzp setup and I has a very slight leak that I tried to seal up with gasket sealant ... but I guess you already know what happened with that idea

Im putting my zzp midlength back on in the next week and a half. It didnt really leak. But when I put it back on im going to use an exhaust sealant that turns rock hard and put it around the collector downpipe flange. Exhaust shops use this stuff to seal pinhole leaks. It will not leak through it! It will not burn off! Just bolt the dp to the header and then run a bead of it along the meeting point of the flanges. Will see if I can get a name of the stuff.

yeah it's a silica gel/paste and when it hardens up, it will flake off. these cars' exhaust get a metric **** ton hotter than a regular car. if you read most of the sealers they rate it to say 500 degrees, then occasional to 700-800. our cars will cook that **** right off

it probably works fine on a hyundai accent though

-- i already tried that hardened sealer stuff back in 2005 when i was helping TOG test their shorty header, and it cooked right off

Worked fine on my camaro at the header! And that thing got hot! This stuff was like cement it was rock hard and didnt flake off. It would take a grinder to smooth it if you wanted to. It dried to a light pinkish color. If what you used flaked off then we are taking about different things. Mine served the cat failing to the point the cat and the pipe to the header were glowing. The cat was bright orange and the pipe was less orange as it got to the header. But the stuff survived that!

i'm telling you, it's the same stuff. it comes with a warning on the package to use breathing protection because of the high amount of silica in it

and after you put it on the cobalt, it will turn from pinkish to brown when it starts burning off, and then when it's brown/pinkish all over, it'll start flaking off.

hell you can do it, it's your car... doesn't matter to me

when you ordered your remflex gasket did you order the universal or the one with the bolt holes specific distance apart? ( if so what is the distance between bolt holes) I would measure but my car is 2 hours away in storage.

Thanks

8 years later I’m surprised this thread didn’t hit 20 pages.

Horrible exhaust leak leak at the flange.
not really sure if I should be looking into new combos but I think for the moment I’m just gonna weld these flanges together hahah **** it.

Did the remflex gasket work?
OP(maybe OOP) is right, anyone with aero force gauges can see our exhausts get hot af, sealant, rtv, silica: nothing will last long in the heat.

I think the techs at work are gonna laugh their **** off when I ask them to just weld it no new gaskets.

(Maybe a year old setup, leaked from day one, got bad about 2 weeks ago. Hissing loud start up, weird idle, weird loud as hell rumble noise on 25% load, but 100% load we got pining)

Had to cut out the zzp resonator for more ground clearance about 3 months ago, so you can image she’s gotten too loud for my tastes, and low end accelerations is starting to get compromised

I know I am really late to this party but here is my experience. I had a JBP header that was really warped and the last thing I tried was the Remflex gasket. I bought the one where I had to cut my own gasket. It worked awesome, I can't stress enough how happy I was with the Remflex gasket. I plan on using it with my LSX when we get to that point.

I actually used remflex on my leak as well with Corsa and it fixed it. Great product.
