Hey Selfinfliction! Here is what Zoomer posted:
Quote:"On the answers to the balance shafts and many other questions, it can be pointless to go over. If vendors not going to be accurate and honest about the products and customers don't care, why bother to respond at all? If you, the customers, are not holding vendors accountable for being honest, then you get shody products and cars not performaning as well as you'd like."
Thats what Zoomer says: So send him an email or better still a thread He said it: Hold him accountable...

hey good catch. i'm going to buy one of those gaskets from remflex and if it fixes the issue i'll see if they will reimburse me for the expenses of it. the issue now is just based on principle, not the 20 bucks for the gasket
can you send me a link to where he said that? i'd like to get a screenshot of it in case the gasket doesn't fix this and it gets expensive, i'll just turn the mess over to my gf to work on with them. cause i've spent $260 on coating this thing plus the $400 or whatever it was as the initial charge

ah ok, so now i should take it all off, have to buy another $25 copper gasket, pay $60 to get new flanges welded on and then buy new gaskets.
sounds like a plan to me
hell for that much money i could've had a time attack exhaust replica built lol

go to the balance shaft thread on this page and you will find the Zoomer quote....its long....hard to miss.
i use permatex orange hi temp slimeycone, 1372 or something i dont use gaskets anymore other than the fine CTI copper head flange gasket. I got NO leaks. I also dont use cheap muffler clamps I use one inch corsa band clamps...torqued to 45 ft lbs andthen after a run rotated and retorqued...

Ya know some days I read the various posts and I get dicked at folks. Rico for example. Hahn (example of a Hahn downpipe) shown here. What a nice piece! use 3 inch at the manifold, then 2 inch at the cat back, and some (Hahn, and DC sports) use a 2 bolt flange rather than a sleeve and clamp for the axle over
Whether it is two bolt or three, if the flange is made of too thin or too cheap material, there is a risk it wont seal. The OP (Self infliction in this case) put his system on brand new and it leaked. Not Good.
If you look around, you can get cheap, you can get copies, you can get really good. I am betting that Hahn systems are 100%, Vibrants also, CTI very good and less money...
Whatever system you use, I recommend using Permatex orange gasket sealer . And for Selfinfliction, hopefully Zoomer will step up and walk the talk he lays out here...
The reason this ZZP header is fail is clear:

i had the folks at Clear Image Auto build me a header with interchangable DPs(cat and catless)
THe ball-in-socket flange at the header is awesome and seals tight, i special ordered the DPs with VBand clamps on the catback side
this is my 4th header setup on this car and by far the best i have encountered

these are one side of a V8 header, so they are 2 bolt flanges. Look at the thickness of the flange... and the socket
Finally here is a merge collector slip on fit with a 1 inch band clamp. This wont work on a 4cyl ecotec, because the motor moves too much. These Corvettes dont have stock hydraulic mounts, but they also come with a torque tube drive train which limits travel anyway
So for an ecotec you need a three bolt flange or a two bolt ball seat like Japetr has pointed out

but i am happy with my current setup...i eliminated the need for gaskets throughout the whole system with the exception of the exhaust manifold gasket, which i copper coated...when i build the motor i am going to ditch the studs and just use socket cap machine screws, which will be torqued while on the engine stand

got my remflex gaskets in today, will try to install them some day this week
it's 1/8" thick solid graphite
if this don't fix it, it'll be impossible to seal a leak on their flanges, and then it turns into their problem

the remflex is a 50% crush and rebounds. that's why these things are expensive... gasket sealer would blow right out of a gap 1/16" .. these seal up to that size

if this was just stock still i would sell them too, but i already spent too much money getting them coated.
hell if i knew they would be bad from the get go i could've had them planed before installing which would eliminate this entire mess.
