Eaton M62 Oil fill amount Misconception

On many howto's for supercharging the 2.2/2.4 or even just the how to for replacing the oil in the m62 I have seen many people say you need 2 bottles of oil which is over 8oz's, this is wrong!...And all the arguing in the "how to change your M62 oil thread" just confused me more...SO straight from Eatons website here we are....Hopefully this will help clear the questions and misinformation..perhaps a sticky?

I bought 2 bottles but when I drained my eaton, about 3 oz's came out so it made me stop everything and do some more research

scotch89 07-16-2010 07:03 PM

my manufacturer's manual from gm states that i need to put 5 quarts of oil in my LSJ during an oil change.

since the manufacturer can never be wrong, i should probably go drain out 1.5 quarts asap huh?

You fail big time at reading, Im talking about the actual oil in your M62 not the motor genius

quit being a tard just because you think you found some uber top secret thing that no one knew before.

it's on the fucking eaton faq. just because they suggest 3 oz doesn't mean it's the best. maybe the 6oz works better at high rpm that the oem pulley will not see on the m62 because of the higher amount of windage inside the case. the higher levels of oil could help reduce the windage or at leats make sure that there was sufficent oil in reserve for lubrication while windage levels were high.

no you fail at comprehension. you were just asking if someone trusted zzp over a manufacturer and then you try to bash me for giving a perfect example of a manufacturer giving bad information.

your thread is complete shit.

Its not secret, its info that this site failed at providing, dont be a asshole.

Throw in the foul language show your education.....if im wrong please show me valid info, instead of cursing like trailer trash.

selfinfliction 07-16-2010 08:57 PM

and your idiotic uninformed assumption and failure to understand the entire scope of the sticky theory deemed valid for all applications due to the resource provider, displays the lack of education you possess.

dude i've got 2 degrees and i'm working on my masters, if you want to have a wordsmithing contest, i will make you feel bad about existing.

nope i turning on this site that, i dont see the point in trying to help assholes, i would post it somewhere where its apreciated hint hint

selfinfliction 07-16-2010 09:04 PM

sure you can, just don't bust out like you discovered some secret and instantly state that everyone is wrong form what they've been doing just because you are going by a single resource of information that takes into affect, a singular setup. people are spinning these blowers 50% faster than from the factory and that changes alot of dynamics. but instead of you saying "hey check this info out" you busted out just stating everyone is wrong except that one chart.

Okay I have a valid question. Eaton says to use 3.4oz but people have used 6oz. The full 6oz fits in there no prob? Do we have proof that using more oil helps with the higher load being put on the m62 by using smaller pulleys and higher revs? Do we have any proof that it doesnt make a difference?
Just wondering why theres two groups saying different things is all.
