i'm looking into getting one. my main consideration is being able to take it off to take it in to the dealer, so i need one that doesnt require any drilling or anything. the second consideration is price. could someone help me out here? sorry if i'm being a ******* and shoulda been able to figure it out searching. thanks.

You shouldnt have to drill anything. Search for Ingalls.

Ingalls Torque dampener uses existing hardware for mounting. They may notice the bolts have been worn down though so be careful.

They are only $169.99 shipped and the company has a great tech support if you would need it.

They are around $150. I love mine. I got it from Dezod, but it looks like TurboTech has it so I would go with them cause they seem pretty loyal to the cobalt folks.

The torque dampner acts as a upper motor mount. It is such a drastic improvment for how easy is to install. And depending on what you are doing you can adjust it however you like.

I have heard that the torque forward. Torque forward claims that there is going to be no cabin vibration, but in my opinion you have to get cabin vibration...it is not going into the engine anymore, so I don't think it works.

Check the RL forums for info on the Torque Forward one. I have it, got it for $87 shipped with their group buy, and it helps a lot. By no means is it the 100% solution, (I don't think anything is by itself) but it is definitely a useful add-on. 10 minutes to install or remove. Actually, the longest part is adjusting the dampner itself, but you should only have to do that once.

Any word on your car yet? No point in running it again till you find your lost herd of horses.

Is there any "How to install" guides around for these? Any special tools required?

I have the Ingalls I got it from Turbo Tech and it helps alot. Four bolts and then you adjust to the hop is gone. You will notice in cabin vibration with the A?C at the daampers higher settings, but it is worth it.

The single is on the upper passenger side motor mount( just like Ingalls), and the double is also a brace for the upper passenger side motor mount and the other is the rear brace which goes underneath the engine on the trans mounts...the single works great, but with both of them they work awsome.....

by the way I am selling a rear brace for only $80 plus free shipping. It is brand new, never been installed.

The issue with vibration can be resolved very easy with the Ingalls Stiffy. The unit is adjustable from STIFF all the way down to SOFT but still helping! I cant say what kind of R&D went into the "other guys" but I know Ingalls does the homework before a product is on the market.
