Just got my Hurst Short Throw Shifter. I'm excited hopefully this weekend I'll get it put in.

does anyone who installed one of these know if the cup holders just pop out using a small screw driver? the instructions tell me to remove the front cup holders and i thought they were molded into the console. LOL

Well if no one knows wish me luck!! I'll post pics as a how to when i do it.

Pretty...... looks good man! Get some installed pics for us once it's done!

marerick007 Jan 17, 2007 10:47 PM

They pop out easier than you think...just about everything does in the center.

Wow you just made up my mind which shifter to get, I was sort of leaning towards the B and M but the knob looks cheap on that peace. That Hurst knob looks so nice.

Dude it is definitely a pretty piece!!! feels very sturdy! i'll let you know how it shifts. i have a friend who does all the transmission work for a chevy dealership near me and he's going to help me put it in so it should go smooth and i may be able to get some pointers to help adjust it for those who are having some issues with the adjustment. i would definitely recommend this over the b&m based on how the quality of the piece looks.

yellowcobaltss05 Jan 17, 2007 11:04 PM

ya everything in your center console pops out with ease and that shifter is sweet looking

2K5SS/SC? Jan 17, 2007 11:32 PM

Lift up the center part of the console first. Then you can remove the rear cup holder and front piece arond the shifter. I think there is a how-to to get it apart if you want pics. It's reall easy though.

Matty Jan 17, 2007 11:57 PM

You will not be dissapointed. It makes the shifts feel really solid. I am glad i waited for the Hurst to come out.

marerick007 Jan 17, 2007 11:58 PM

Yeah, I'm kind of liking the look of it too! Anyone know where I can get a knob that lights up orange?

2K5SS/SC? Jan 18, 2007 10:41 AM

I just noticed that the Hurst setup doesn't come with metal washers to replace the rubber ones the stock shifter assembly rides on. Those washers make the setup feel so much firmer. I wonder if you could order the B&M washers separately to add to your Hurst setup. It'll make it feel a lot more firmer and direct.

looks pretty sweet bro!!!!

Boosted_SS Jan 20, 2007 01:13 AM

A hat and duffle bag came with it? Not too shabby. How much did that set you back?

Boosted_SS Jan 20, 2007 01:26 AM

$342.00 including shipping. i hope i don't get any CEL's

Matty Jan 20, 2007 01:29 AM

Pricey.

If it is a drycharge filter it should be ok for the CEL.

Boosted_SS Jan 20, 2007 01:33 AM

i think i can get the sock thing that goes over it for drycharging. yes it's alittle but more expensive than most but it's supposed to add like 15 HP and sound wicked! i'm willing to pay abit more for the best ya know

The sock is more to keep water from being sucked up the intake. I meant is it oil coated? When it come time to clean it, does it require a lubricant?

I have an AEM which to clean it, the filter just gets the crap blown out with an air hose (gentley of course).

It is a nice looking piece for sure. :)

Boosted_SS Jan 20, 2007 01:53 AM

yes you clean the filter just like a k&n

With an oil then. So there is a outside possibility of a CEL. The oil gets onto the MAF sensor causing the CEL. If that happens clean the sensor. :cssNET:

Boosted_SS Jan 20, 2007 02:02 AM

sweet any recommendations on what to clean it with? i looked at it pretty good and there doesn't seem to be much oil on the filter at all... i just know it says it can be cleaned by using any after market filter cleaning kit

Matty Jan 20, 2007 02:06 AM

K&N has a kit you can get. As for the sensor, just a dry cloth (if it is needed). What does it say in the instructions for cleaning? I would suspect that they provide a part# for the cleaning kit.
