Front Rotors Grooved ?

I wash cleaning my rims today and noticed my front rotors had grooves in them. I have 4000km (about 2500miles). I have never seen this on a car this new before. I am not on the brakes any harder than any other car I have driven. Anyone else seeing this ? I want to go to the dealership on Monday and would appreciate any feedback from the rest of you on your rotor wear.

Thanks in advance

Steve.

yeah I got the grooves too, I am going to say something my next oil change. They also pulse a bit.... I am actually pretty gentle on my brakes, especailly with a manual I do mostly engine braking when I can.

when mine was brand new that started and it was due to the wheels not being torqued down
the LF wheel was only @ 40 ft. lbs
torque them all to 100

The Red Lines dealt with this too. The dealer will say it does not affect performance and is common on this design. I'm assuming that goes for the SS also.

this has been established as a regular issue associated with having ceramic brake pads. this is why we stop so nicely.

if you can get your dealer to resurface them, go for it, but it'll come back. it has to mine. they'll tell you nothing is wrong with them, but they did it anyways.

There is nothing wrong with grooves in the rotors as long as they are less than .060"(1.5mm) deep. Brake puslation is caused by thickness variation and lateral runout, not grooves.

Zinner...since brakes are way cheaper than clutches....uses your brakes bro'.

There are about a dozen or more pages of information regarding warranty brake service procedures on Chevy cars/trucks. Unless your experiencing a soft/low pedal, a hard/ ineffective pedal, red brake indicators on the dash or pulsation there really isnt any reason to contact your dealer, you should also know that unless you have one of the concerns Ive listed (or deep grooves) It is likely they many dealers will do nothing other than look at you funny or just let the car sit in the techs bay for a half hour or so while he works on something else.

I don't have all that much experience with performance breaks, but I have 30000km on my car (18600miles) AND I HAVE T OGET MY BREAK PAD RELACED ALREADY, rotors machined and calipers serviced, dealer wants $500cnd
wtf

I in now way ride these breaks hard, there should be no need for something of this severity so soon.

That is the way GM's better braking systems are these days. My 00 Aurora V8 and 03 Envoy did the same thing. Ceramic pads are hard on steel disks.

they claim that I'm breaking to hard, and these performance breaks don't last as long as the normal breaks.

all B.S. the just don't want to cover it
