gutted cats

gutted the cat today and it made a huuuge difference. sounds the same, no rasp or anything and now you can hear the tires still trying to break loose at 50-55mph WOT. it revs alot faster now too it's about a 2 hour job from start to finish and well worth it. just make sure you put a cat back on if you drive it out on the street

just gotta get the mil sim to get rid of the engine light and it'll be all set

nope but some states don't use emission tests anyways. this is only temporary too until i can get an aftermarket downpipe w/ hiflow cat installed... or maybe just a test-pipe

Because the southern states rock! No emissions testing required here!

I know people that have been stopped at federal checkpoints/roadblocks and given $2000 tickets because their exhaust was modified and couldn't pass an emissions test there on the spot - and this is here in a testing free zone. So beware.....

just pop off the downpipe, take a long handled tool of some type and beat all the **** out of it. takes about an hour

i got my flowmaster exhaust put on today and i've already decided to put a high-flow cat back on tomorrow morning. the flowmaster sounds bad ass with no rasp when you rev it up, but when you have a load on the car and you go WOT it sounds like ass from not having a cat. stock w/o cat sounded pretty good though

By MIL SIM he meant an o2 simulator, not MIL SIM cause that would Malfunction Indicator Lamp Simulator All the o2 sim does is take the place of the 2nd o2 sensor located behind the cat and send the PCM a reading it wants to see as to not set a code from a cat thats flowing too much.
And self, what do you have done to your car to make the tires almost break loose at 55mph?

intake mod, tog header and gutted cat.. i don't think i should have said break loose, cause that sounds like it was trying to smoke them lol you can feel them losing grip though up till you hit between 50-55, that''s from a launch, not going 55 and punching it

Ok that makes a bit more sense, cause the way you worded it made you sound like you could punch it from a roll and almost break em loose, which on any cobalt at this stage I think would be pretty damn hard lol. Thanks for clearing that up

The rear O2 sensor is telling the ECM if the cat is in place/working correctly.

An O2 simulator just feeds the ECM a false yes.

Thanx for ruining the environment.

People who defeat the emissions controls on cars should be sentenced to drive a hybrid for 10 years.

http://www.epa.state.oh.us/pic/nr/19.../tstchang.html

Right now MD makes you do an OBDII test only so you could pass with an O2 sim, but they also do a visual inspection and if they see that SIM your car fails.

Nah I am serious. If you lived in an area with a lot of air pollution you would understand.
