A lot of smoke coming from exhaust

I installed my Hahn catback a few weeks ago, and I have been seeing a lot of smoke coming out, looks to me like there is a lot of carbon build up. So my question is, is this normal? Could the car need a tune?

What color? normally on new exhaust they have a oil inside them to keep them from rusting while on the storage rack waiting to be sold

does it smell like gas or burning oil? oil is blue white black is gas. were you tuned before the exhaust? you could be running rich now cause you opened up the exhaust

My guess is he's running rich. My 2.2L did that with just an intake and cat-back. Car dumps fuel like a bandit.

It smells like gas. The cel is also on but it always comes on in the winter, ever since i installed my cai, and I have taken it to an auto zone in the past and it comes up that it is running lean, but I have not taken it since I put the new exhaust on, that's probably my next step.

If you see black smoke coming out at idle under zero load you are running excessively rich.

Oh yeah i did not understand at first if this is happening at idle that is way to rich. When I go to wide open throttle in cold months black smoke is present
