Help with downpipe
I started to take off my factory exhaust today and I had no Idea how hard getting the three bolts from the downpipe and manifold were. The problem is that I stripped the top bolt you can see from the top of the engine bay. Can anyone give me some advise and how to get that last bolt out. Thanks

First off they're not bolts. They are studs with nuts. Typically the nut is threadlocked to the stud so that the stud backs out about half way, then it breaks off.
If somehow the threads stripped out of the nut, then you may need a nutsplitter to remove it. |
Get a grinder and grind it off problem solved:twothumbs

i had the same shit happen to me. but mine broke off so all i had was a stud sticking out. and had no way to get a drill inthere to back it out. and the stud remover dident have enough room to grab the stud to get it out. so i just took it to a shop

It's easier if you have a lift. You can get to the bolt underneath much easier that way.

That reminds me of one of the first martial arts classes I took when I was in my teens. We stretched so hard. I am sure it was called a nutsplitter, and my downpipe nearly fell right off.
When I was taking mine off...I started working on it with the mani and the exhaust a little on the warm side...that and some pb blaster...and them bad boys came right out! |
