reason im askin is because some idiot told me with his wrx that we push like 170 to the wheels and it didnt sound reasonable to me....

because we have a stock srt 4 in town and they are saying stage 2 wont even be able to beat it from a 40 mph roll

I'm almost positive that we're over 200 at the wheels...GM also has a history of underrating power as well....I bet there are some dyno sheets on this site by stock ss/sc's..I'm just to tired to search for them. As far as the srt4 race, there are plenty of people on here that are staged and will be able to give you real experience info on that, but if I was in a stage2 or intense staged cobalt I wouldn't hesitate to take them up on that challenge. If I was in the right mood I'd even consider tryin a stock ss/sc in that one.

CTCOBALTSSS 09-14-2006 09:40 AM

I have seen a couple stock dynos around 208whp and 189wtq.

NoRemorse 09-14-2006 09:47 AM

My stock dyno was 221, and there have been a few that have dynod as high as 230 stock.

These cars are SEVERLY underrated

ItalianJoe1 09-14-2006 09:48 AM

Mine hit 217/188 stock

He is an idiot. On average a stock SS/SC should see 210-220whp. Sure there are some freaks that see 230 and some that are a little lower, but that would be average.

yea the guy is DUMB... but i would agree we should see anything from 210 to 230 if anyone says more or less then those are either talking out og there ass

CbYellowSS 09-14-2006 09:58 AM

heres the deal stock srt-4 vs cobalt with stage 2 the race will be all up to the drivers

you can easily take him

i raced a srt-4 with a cai and a blowoff valve maybe some other stuff but i think thats it with my stage 2 cobalt ngk plugs and he only took me by a carlength cus my tires spun

the rest of the race we were even

CbYellowSS 09-14-2006 09:59 AM

and about the horsepower

gm quotes 205 at 5600 rpm

so that means you only get 205 horsepower if you are shifting at that

higher the rpm=more horsepower

thats y many people see more than 205

and it is whp

Mazdaspeed 09-14-2006 10:02 AM

I ran a 223whp/193wtq on a dynojet, stock. So yeah, they're underrated....

wtf?

That's not how it works.

That just means it 'peaked' at 5600, and dropped after that, which we all know is BS though on the LSJ

You're logic works in general, but not all engines make more power leadin up to redline. The horesepower actually drops off on our engines after 5600rpm (in stock trim).

Bad06SS 09-14-2006 10:12 AM

220 whp is probably a good average. Mine was one of the "freaks", mine dyno'd 233whp/198wtq stock. :)

One thing to look at, the stock "dyno graph" that is published by GM has a sharp fall-off at 5600 rpms. It could be caused by the boost limit on a stock vehicle. Both HP and TQ fall off in a basically straight line after that point, not like normal restriction or peak but like the power is being reduced slightly, either by torque management or boost bypass. Just something to consider. I know I felt the torque go away at the last couple hundred rpms on a ss/sc with a K&N filter/airbox mod that did not have the boost bypass mod done.

Where's your proof of this??! I've seen plenty of stock dyno sheets, as well as my own stock dyno's, and these particular engines (bone stock) continue making horsepower all the way untill the factory 6500rpm rev limiter kicks in. Don't go by what the fake GM dyno sheets tell you, go by what the numerous "real life, real dyno" sheets read. Do a search.:twothumbs

I second that...the HP curve is a pretty incline on the dyno that makes you wish your redline was much further away! (hence the 7000rpm stage 1/2 upgrade I believe)

i third it even though i was the one to start the argument lol

k heres the deal an easy thing to remember for you new kids on the block out there

the more psi your pushing the more hp you make

so that means when your going past 5600 rpms and the boost keeps going up that means more horses are being added

am i right or not????

FLCobalt 09-14-2006 07:56 PM

210hp 190 tq seems about average for stock ss/sc dynos

your right for the most part.

but boost does not = HP

Clogged cat will hurt hp A LOT, but your boost goes through the roof.

You can cool that air down, which will give you more power, but less boost, there are TONES of factors.

brifriinc 09-14-2006 09:05 PM

220hp 191lbs tq stock here....
