hp tuners questions

Just about to get my Stage2 put in and I already have intake and exhaust.... Does anyone know who sells HP tuners specific to my SS/or any SS? I just want a simple chip or something that reads my current modifications and re-calculates the stock computer brain to adjust it properly to get the best performance. (I know, no sh*t) but HP Tuners website is difficult to navigate and does not really show a specific thing to purchase for my car....and what the approximate gains/increases are. anyone know anywhere that is reputable that offers what I'm looking for? Are there any even out yet?

Thanks for any help

That is not going to happen. The best you can hope for is don't get GM stage 2 but buy Intense's stage products and which comes with a specific program created with hptuners software.

Yes but won't that void the warranty? Do you know if GM will stlil honor the warranty if THEY do the install? I've looked at Intense before but not sure which Stage is the best. I know it depends on my desires......but I don't want to do any machining or customizing modifications to make any of them work. Any suggestions? looking for bang for $ without any serious engine work...just install and be done with it.

Thanks again!

Intense kits will not be warranty approved. If the warranty is your concern simply do Stage 2 and the usual bolt ons, intake\exhaust\header and keep the warranty intact.

DAM! Well, I've seen a couple guys at the track with their laptops out and adjusting between passes....looks like some tricky junk to figure out and do right without jackin something up in your car. tons of charts and numbers and graphs. I knew that's what it entailed but until I saw it in person.....wow. Looks tougher than I thought and just learning, I'd have to spend weeks just learning what can and should be done and to what levels or numbers. If you change this, then you have to adjust this up or down. sheesh!!! Any advice guys?

You should have asked those guys what exactly they were doing with their laptops. I log all day long and then go back and see what happens when I change something. Hell, if you had the stuff, I'd help you change out the stock parts in the parking lot ;) then flash your car just to see the grin you get from the 7k redline.

Yeah hp tuners is great, a bit complicated and time consuming, but is much better to tune your individual car to what you have done... If you dont want to void your warranty or have no idea how to tune... stay away and get the gm stage II with the 2.8 pulley boys pulley

i just picked up hp tuners from hondaeater i really dont know how to tune but i plan on learning alot from the internet for the first couple weeks.

all I have to say is BABY STEPS.... nothing dramatic... but hint hint... you'll love the boost limit in 1st and 2nd gear... traction is a wonderful thing.

distillion Jul 12, 2006 02:19 PM

so you guys bring down the boost in first and second??

06blackg85ss Jul 12, 2006 02:21 PM

yeah.... helps alot especially at lower rpm ranges and then go to 100% @5500 in 2nd... I'll have some track time fri to see what it really does, but just in some random street races, being able to keep your foot to the floor and not peddling the top of 1st or the bottom of 2nd helps alot.

distillion Jul 12, 2006 02:24 PM

so does that fall int othe torque managment part of hp tuners, i heard people on here are upping the boost when they talk about that??

CobaltBurst Jul 12, 2006 02:26 PM

first thing im going to do is just scan and see what my car is doing, im not going to touch anything until i get a wideband A/F or unless im on a dyno.

06blackg85ss Jul 12, 2006 02:28 PM

yeah under engine diag under super charger if I remember correctly.... putting my wideband in fri so I can a little crazy with the fuel now cause I am runnin wayyyy rich..
