I want better sound

I want better sound out of my balt. Its 07 SS/SC. No mods yet besides Injen intake. I want the exhaust to sound deeper but I dont have nearly enough money for a full exhaust system. Im a college student on a budget.

Idk which route to go: downpipe, hahn/gmpp exhaust or just a cheap muffler.

Since i dont have any mods it doesnt really matter how much power they can hold cuz i wont be able to mod anytime soon. I know theres some gains from an exhaust system and slight gains for a downpipe...but im not really worried about 5 more whp. mainly sound.

what to do...what to do...

Fart can! /end thread

I don't know too much on exhaust but you should be able to do either a GMPP exhaust or hann exhaust. Depends on what you might wanna do in the end game too.

"dont have money for full exhaust"

-recommends $1000 setup LOL

If you just want a little more sound and dont care about mods swap the muffler with something like a magnaflow or borla, make sure the muffler is on the larger side because SC cars are LOUD!

I don't know about the others but I suggested a page where he can get a full 2.5" catback for less than $300.

This is like the wheel thing, unless your friends have cobalt ss's with the same exhaust who cares what people on a forum on the other side of the country have.

well u can just get the zzp full exhaust for like 450 then. really its about as good as its gonna sound (its basically a magnaflow system anyway) for the price vs the only other good sounding ones (corsa, gmpp, hahn) that cost 6-800 bucks

think itll still sound alright without a downpipe/header? all the videos on youtube are zzp exhaust+downpipes/headers

You really should take a look at that mandrel exhaust system page I posted above. I have their 2.5'' stainless catback with no resonator and a magnaflow muffler and it sounds pretty good! You can get the aluminized steel version for pretty cheap and you even get to choose your own muffler (Vibrant, Borla, Magnaflow).

Oh ****. Didn't even see that it comes with a muffler. What's the difference between aluminized and stainless?

If your looking for more of a deeper growling tone I would get a better header then probably go with a weld in muffler

I puchased a 2.5" catback from mandrel exhaust systems. Took the Borla muffler and put in my own Magnaflow resonator. Even with a high flow cat it was STOOOPID loud. 3 muffler changes later and ZZP's resonator my now catless system is slightly louder than stock

I'll borrow my friend's GoPro and record mine... doesn't sound ''stooopid'' loud at all. I'll get a resonator at one point but only to muffle the sound a bit when I floor it. Other than that I'm very satisfied.
